As the Hoyas prepare for the second showdown with the Memphis Tigers on Thursday, we here at THE GLOBAL PHENOMENON feel that this is a good time as any to gauge how Hoyas fans feel about Georgetown's long-term prospects this season. Win or lose against the Tigers, the Hoyas will be entering Big East play having blown the door off early season expectations and will carry a national ranking next to its name when Georgetown opens Big East play against the Louisville Cardinals.
So, we ask you, Hoya fan, what are your new expectations for this Georgetown team?

delusion
truly setting in amongst the causal crowd….let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

The delusion train moves pretty fast...
If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.

TX Hoya
Seems to be missing the Delusional/Cynical dualism that is this blog. There is no middle ground. The gray area is called “HoyaTalk.”
DHB Enterprises - December 20, 2011
Roger that
Casual > Hoya Talk
TX Hoya - December 20, 2011
I actually like HoyaTalk too
But it serves a completely different purpose, in my mind.
DHB Enterprises - December 20, 2011
I would be hard pressed to suggest
that any sports (or lunch) blog serves a purpose…
onceahoya - December 20, 2011
Maaaan I can’t even get approved on Hoyatalk..
Like I’m some kind of internet terrorist secretly working with Sucks.. My orders are to infiltrate Hoyatalk and take it down!! Wish me errrrrr luck.. smh
yaboynyp - December 20, 2011
The thought that HoyaTalk is actively screening applicants
makes me a very sad panda.
HoyaSmacksYa - December 20, 2011
So much delusion
Can elite 8 be added?
hoyabballownsall - December 20, 2011
Hahaha
I love that your delusion is that specific.
HoyaJoker07 - December 20, 2011
After seeing what's happened to Alabama and Memphis
I’m not so delusional anymore.
VictorPage'sLeftEye - December 20, 2011
This
Need to see how we fare against some good BE teams like Louisville and Marquette.
J-Wall's Mom's Broom - December 20, 2011
Marquette's canoe seems to be taking on water
Casual loss in Baton Rouge last night to LSU
CasualHoya - December 20, 2011
Marquette game at home is a must-win
no doubt about it
VictorPage'sLeftEye - December 20, 2011
Fixed it
Marquette’s douche canoe seems to be taking on water
StPetersburgHoya - December 20, 2011
i'm not even sure
y’all pretend to work on 12.
thunderbus - December 20, 2011
I lol'd
J-Wall's Mom's Broom - December 20, 2011
And Kansas
Our strength of schedule has been fading.
Insidious Rex - December 20, 2011
I really don't like Davidson.
BornonthisBandWagon - December 20, 2011
I wish they'd embarrass more schools actually
Let them be the Gonzaga of the South, to take away some of the distaste from 2008.
HoyaSmacksYa - December 20, 2011
its college basketball
lots of games are tight
onceahoya - December 20, 2011
Once we thump Cuse and give them a proper Big East farewell
then we can be delusional….
SomebodyBuyAustinaSteak - December 20, 2011
Once we thump Cuse
We can thump them again next season at a grayed-out Phone Booth and it’ll be right proper.
HoyaSmacksYa - December 20, 2011
This time...
the gray-out will actually effin’ work
VictorPage'sLeftEye - December 20, 2011
Cynical
HoyaJoker07 - December 20, 2011
Woke up with a cold sense of sense of reality today
This team probably won’t mentally implode like some past squads, but I still am not sure how we stack up against the 4-5 top teams in our conference. I have not adjusted my pre-season hope of 10-11 BE wins and a Dance ticket. That said, I would be disappointed no matter what if we lost in the first round again.
WarmupEwing - December 20, 2011
Easy to stack
We will probably lose – on the road – to the top three, the fourth is a toss-up, and we are the fifth.
HoyaSmacksYa - December 20, 2011
Liking the love
Henry Sims (Georgetown)
Am I the most improved player this year?
Jason King (1:35 PM)
You would be if not for a guy named Herb Pope
From the Chat Wrap
Keep it up, Henry!
New sign idea: make a green diamond shaped sign to hold above my head:
HoyaJoker07 - December 20, 2011
I don't think Pope will last
I think he wears down. He’s not getting into foul trouble now, but they haven’t played many people of note who could challenge him inside. He’s definitely improved over years past though.
Henry has done it against better competition, IMO.
hoyasincebirth - December 20, 2011
positive prognosis TEASER?
Boy, I hope so!!
JahidiLikesPie - December 20, 2011 via mobile
Isn't Positive Prognosis the shtick
where HSB finds as many silver linings as possible from an otherwise superbly craptacular performance? For example, “Benimon had 7 TOs today in 15 minutes, but didn’t actually put the ball directly into the other team’s basket at any point.”
HoyaSmacksYa - December 20, 2011
It is the antithesis of the JLP Nervousness/Holiday Shopping Level
WarmupEwing - December 20, 2011 via mobile
Some mornings I need that voice of delusion.
So that the voice of reason can be temporarily told to shove it.
(Not right now when there’s a veritable delusional chorus echoing through the blog, mind you, but the day will come…)
