    Topics of Interest:

    Kyle Anderson
    Gabe York
    D’Vauntes Smith Rivera

    GO!

    is DSR

the better pg option for JT3 rather than KA, due to the fact I see KA being more of a point-forward more than anything else!

    i think that is right

york is blowing up right now – gtown needs to get in front of him quickly

    The question is...

does JT3 wants to go with another under 6’2" pg or does he want to go big with DSR, I think rebounding and better perimeter D is the recipe at the moment!

    true

bigger question is do any of the above guards want to play at gtown. all have indicated some interested in the school but it is far from a done deal.

ill take any, including semaj christon

    DSR although listed taller

is said to be about 6-1. Both DSR and York are really shooting guards. The bigger question is will they develop the playmaking abilities to be able to run a team…

    PT

So with all the talent that we have coming in does anbody forsee us still playing 6 man ball?

    There shouldn't be any reason

for JT3 to just relying on 6 players to make things happen, he has to learn how to trust his players by letting them play, and not over-relying on his system!

If Kyle wants to come here

We take him over everyone. A lot of experts from Coach Hurley, Adam Zagoria, and Nolan Shulman all say he is perfect for our system. He has played PG for Playaz and according to him that’s what he wants to play in college. Kid puts up numbers across the board, and is capable of getting a triple double on any night. Typical night for Kyle 14points 10boards 7 assists, a stat sheet stuffer in the words of my man Clark Kellog. More, and maybe most importantly, after watching him for about 2 minutes in a live situation you will just realize “he gets it”. He thinks the game faster than most people see it, is a cerebral player and understands what he needs to do to get the W…

He is a solid defender and has held players like Gilchrest, and Austin Rivers in check. To me he is priority number one, but as we all now we don’t pick the kids, the kids choose us. All three are talented and would be welcome additions

    I thought

that he was enamored with Seton Hall and or Arizona?

    he might still be

but gtown is definitely still in the picture, so is st, johns

    DEPTH.............

My issue with GTown has been with the lack of depth coming off the bench!!! JT3 needs to play everybody in order to keep the harmony as well as keeping the opponents guessing.
I know this guys doesn’t sound like much but I’m going to throw his name out there one more time and then I’ll leave it alone. I’m only looking at what he could bring to the table as far as ball handling, 3 point shooting, and only for the 2011 season. Trinson White is a 6-4 175lbs SG, with promise, he doesn’t rate high on the ESPN 2011 prospects but neither did Jeff Green.

    Mention commitments in OP

I know we all know Porter committed to us since his visit and Ochefu to Nova, but I think you should list them so everybody’s on the same page.

    sim bhullar to xavier

    http://www.therecruitscoop.com/sim-bhullar-commits-to-xavier

havent heard much about him for last couple of months but glad he isnt playing in big east.

    Agreed

I thought they wanted to come in as a team package!

    Kyle Anderson

    From Dave Telep at ESPN:

“Seton Hall does the best job at recruiting me,” Anderson said. “It’s short phone calls and (timely) when they come see me. Them and Georgetown do a great job. I speak to Coach [John] Thompson for three minutes and that’s it. Little things like that make it better.”

UCLA, Florida, St. John’s, Arizona and Xavier are also coming strong for Anderson. After reading this, they’d be wise to save minutes on their cell plans and more importantly, Anderson’s time on the phone. However, we’re particularly interested in seeing how schools handle him because of his unique abilities as a passer with size and vision. Would he pick a place that has an established point guard?

    Honestly

The Hoyas would be the best team for him due to the system of passing and back door cuts, especially for his size he could be so versatile and cause serious matches across the board, the question is would JT3 want to play more of a slower pace due to his size if he was to commit to the Hoyas?

Or pretty much play more of a high post offense and create open looks at the top of the key to shoot mid range to open 3’s with screens?

    Brandon Bolden..

    From Rivals EYBL Dallas

Brandon Bolden (2012, Team Florida)- A promising prospect, Bolden is the prototypical wiry, long, athletic four-man with a developing skill game. If he applies himself in the weight room and is serious about his skill development, he will have a successful career at Georgetown.

and Osama Bin Laden is dead.. wow

is he more of a 'project'

    like big Roy?

    Not really

Supposedly has all the tools, but for whatever reason it hasn’t added up to production… He seems very fluid not mechanical like Roy was, is athletic, just hasn’t put up numbers. Could be the fact that in highschool bigs don’t get a lot of touches, for instance Rak Christmas averaged about 10 ppg last year and is a top 20 guy

    Tony Parker same event

Tony Parker (2012, Georgia Stars)- Parker is playing an aggressive brand of basketball as a scorer and rebounder. When he is focused and in attack mode, he is a productive and reliable big man. Since his game isn’t based on athleticism, Parker is best when he brings a physical and grinding mentality to the court.

    DSR same event

D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera (2012, Spiece)- Smith-Rivera continues to impress. He moves seamlessly between both guard positions, and has a fearlessness to his game. His command of the game and his physical attributes indicate that he will be playing productive basketball for years to come.

    Hammonds.. Roy's boy from Indiana

A.J. Hammons (2012, Spiece)- Hammonds has typically been that big guy that left you wanting more out of him. It looks like this is becoming less the case with him. He does need to play tougher on a consistent basis, but Hammonds now looks more comfortable asserting himself on the court and is becoming more productive. With his size and mobility, he has a high ceiling.

    Semaj Christon

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tNxgA2RBSU
Semaj is the guy with his shirt off
Aaron Thomas is 71 on Espn 56 on Rivals signed to play at FSU 6"5’ Shooting guard

    Aaron is 2011
    Thanks for the info

hopefully JT3 can grab a 1 or 2 of them!

    We've already got one

    I’ll take DSR too though

would take anderson and christon next year. to go along with bolden.

it is putting a lot of weight on adams to develop into a true center though.

    Anderson

if he stays at point, we will be the tallest team in the country

    Indeed

however I don’t want them to be the ‘slowest’ team as well in certain spots on the floor.

This would be very interesting if Anderson and Christon come on board!

    New Scout rankings:

    Hoya Targets:
    Kyle Anderson 17
    Amile Jefferson 21
    Dsr 23
    Tony Parker 27
    Jerami Grant 28
    Devonta Pollard 31
    Lj Rose 42
    Arnaud Moto 49
    Gabe York 60
    Semaj Christon 73

    Also of Note:

    Gavin Ware 86
    Brandon Bolden Not Ranked

    Semaj Christon

From where he came from last summer to now, and the fact that he’s prep’n this year, you just get the feeling that 1) Scouts really haven’t seen him and 2) He will be a rated higher at the end of the year based on the fact that there are not a lot of elite PG’s in the 2012 field

    agree

i like him a lot. not sure if he or anderson would be better.

we have two more schollies for 2012 assuming hollis leaves next year

    3 with the Bennimonster leaving
lot of dry powder to do some damage

considering the list of players we are being mentioned with in 2012 and 2013

    DSR/Semaj

    will do well

    DSR going to Oak Hill

Last time I heard about a point guard we want going to Oak Hill, he ended up choosing the Dookies.

    http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/news/_/id/77077/dvauntes-smith-rivera

Do we get any love from Oak Hill, historically?

    Nope

Basically it means we’re almost certainly out of the running for DSR.
Guess we focus on York and Semaj now.

Julian did attend Oak Hill, but we only got him after a transfer. Don’t know the last recruit we got directly from them. I know the last one we tried to get was Roscoe Smith. And I think you can tell by the way that recruitment went down and where he ended up why kids who go to oak hill don’t end up at Georgetown.

    I think you are right

Also we were on DSR early before the Xavier commit, I would have thought if we were going to get him it would been right after the decommit. The longer it the recruitment streches, the less chance I think we have. Semaj has academic issues though right ?

or what about the other pg

from Dematha BJ Anya (sp?), as option B for a pg if Semaj or DSR isn’t coming this way, also is the Hoyas still in contention with Anderson as well?

    Anya

is the roly-poly 6’"7" center. James Robinson is roly-poly PG from DeMatha.
Would rather have Trawick try to play point than James Robinson.

    oops never mind

the hoyas don’t need a oliver miller 2.0

    I dont mind

roly-poly big men. They usually do ok in college – Oliver Miller, Tractor Traylor; heck look at Sweetney. If Anya (2013) continues to develop I would not mind seeing him in Blue and Gray.

Frankly Adams even is a bit of the same, but with more muscle, less touch.

    we don't need

to lose them from a bball scholarship (Big East) to a football scholarship (Patriot League), we need some muscle on the blocks.

also I wanted to correct myself I was thinking of Betancourt instead of Anya

    At this point

I would go all in on York. I prefered DSR but at this point that seems to be sailing and i too and wary of semaj’s academic issues. There are rumors that even with this prep year he might not qualify.

    Interesting fact

Semaj going to the same prep school in Conn as Andre Drummond… Semaj will get it together

    york over anderson?

not over necessarily. York is a combo guard so if we can get anderson he can play the 2 if we don’t get anderson he can slide over and play point. We need a small guard even if we get anderson unless we want to exclusively play zone.

this report says kyle anderson is seton hall's to lose

    http://www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2011-0509/recruiting-coming-under-focus-for-kyle-anderson-jr/

If he goes to Seton Hall

I’ll eat a Nigerians shoe after he’s walked 25 miles under the hot beating African sun in the summer time with no socks on… What recruits is he talking about that Seton Hall has?? lol Out of their seven recruited players for next year none are currently ranked on any recruiting database… none… If he wants to stay local he would have to have better options than Seton Hall….

    Seton Hall

is selling the backyard treatment to him, they obviously need to make some moves to become relevant at this point.

this offense (Prince-Town) for KAnderson is perfect for him to utilize, b/c he can be effective across the board, hopefully he’ll see it this way

    2013 rankings

Georgetown going after a good number of these guys

    noel could reclassify to 2012

troy williams is a must. nate britt would be awesome

    Agreed, Outside of Noel

Williams and Britt are the two very solid players we have a great a chance with

I kind of want the team to take a flyer on the younger Bhullar – Tanveer. Be nice to have a 7’ again.

    Myles Davis...

Supposedly we have offered… kid can shoot his arse off
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y2UKiXPtGA&feature=related

    great name
if peeing your pants is cool...
he also plays for the nj playz WITH kyle anderson
    Via TheRecruitScoop Alex Kline:

2012 Xavieran (NY) SG Brian Bernardi is on his way to Georgetown for an unofficial visit this weekend.

2012 SG Brian Bernardi of Xaverian (NY) on his Georgetown visit: “I loved it.”
There is nothing like the family feeling...

but seriously when does JT3 start to pitch for better facilities? Something has to give in certain matters in order for the school to excel further along.

    think the pitch has started

and there are already designs for one to be built on the tennis courts.

question is, when does fundraising start and who makes the big donation to start the process

    Big donations you ask

    Clinton, Ewing, Iverson….

    somebody, anybody?

    Shooter...

Runs with the Gauchos and he can shoot it with the best of them…But that’s about it. I think the staff is looking for a knockdown shooter to add some balance to the roster

    also listed

as a 6’1’’ sg, so I don’t know where would he fit a pg w/out handles or a sg in pg’s body who would be very limited in certain areas.

    Who has a better handle?

    Davis or Bernardi?

    Kenya Hunter

    Twitter account http://twitter.com/#!/Gtownhunter

    haha nice

looking at who he follows on twitter one of which is Alan Stein

Who is a local professional strength and conditioning coach. S & C is definitely an area that the team could improve in. I don’t know how good he is, but based on following the dematha coach it seems like they use him. I don’t know if this guy is an improvement over what we have. But we need an upgrade in that position.

    He's also following these recruits

    TJ Warren
    Archie Goodwin
    BeeJay Anya
    Allerik Freeman
    Austin Colbert
    Stefan Jankovic

    also following

    Rodney Pruvis Louisville 2012 decommit.
    James Robinson
    Jerami Grant

    and most importantly

    THE GLOBAL PHENOMENON CASUAL HOYA

    Purvis

he’s only linked to 4 schools

    NCSU
    Kentucky
    Duke
Louisville (are still in the mix)

unless there is more info. I’m not getting!

    zags impressed with trawick

    http://twitter.com/#!/AdamZagoria/status/69909690406027264

If you want to read something funny

Go over to Hoyatalk and read the first page of the Jabril Trawick thread, then compare it to the last page.. Kid went from Nikita to A I in one year, amazing progression from the young man!! lol…

In all honesty you never know how someones career will pan out, but you gotta love the will to get better, and the fact that he will be a 19 year old frosh can’t hurt either.

    Kyle...

    http://www.zagsblog.com/2011/05/16/anderson-likes-seton-hall-st-johns/#more-52354

not much we can do if he wants to stay close to home

other than fire jt3 and move the gtown campus to jersey

    Update Rivals 2012 rankings

    Andre Drummond #3
    Kyle Anderson #4
    Devonta Pollard #6
    Archie Goodwin #10
    Kaleb Traczewski #11

    Anthony Bennett #22
    Gabe York #31

    Landen Lucas #125
    Staphon Blair #128
    Ray Lee #134
    Andrew White #142
    Daniel Dingle #148

interesting no semaj christon on that list.

what are our chances will pollard – havent heard about him in awhile. seems like he will be similar to otto porter in that we are his #1 choice if he decides to leave home.

I think scout/Rivals/ESPN tend not to include prep/5th years players in their rankings.

Pollard's looking real good right about now...
    Please

not ‘another’ SF, hopefully the hoyas can work on the backcourt and grab more bodies!

    Btw whoever gets...

Anthony Bennet is gonna be really happy…. Beast!!!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq6hymZifZ0&feature=related

well it probably won't be us

we’re listed as low interest on his schools list.

    Yes indeed

    very sad

    While searching

    who’s this guy amongst considerations….

    http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/school/_/id/46/class/2011/page/considering

    6'11" and 210?

I might be stronger than this kid

    yeah this dude

    need to grab more carbs

Interesting story on Markel's recruitment from

    http://everymonthmarch.wordpress.com/2011/05/18/unc-recruit-values-spelling/

It reminds me of a story I was told about current Georgetown guard Markel Starks’ recruiting process. Starks was very highly recruited out of Georgetown Preparatory School, and one night he was attending a function with his coach where he spotted the head coach of one of the programs that was most aggressively recruiting him.

His coach said, "Go up and introduce yourself and say hello."

So he did. When he came back to his coach, he said, "That guy had no idea who I was." And, in that moment, Starks, who knew that John Thompson III knew very well who he was, had his mind made up about where he was going to school.

    ok

    i dont get it.

    My buddy posted that

in response to the Duke recruiting letter to P.J Hairston that had T.J. or D.J. or something. Making a point about how you would think a contending school like Duke wouldn’t make that mistake.

Related the Duke story to one of Markel’s top choices head coach not even knowing who he was. Markel made his decision on the spot then because JT III actually knew who he was and interacted with him at the event.

    aaaaaahhhhh

gotcha. good story. sounds like calhoun is the other coach

    Hahaha no

but Calhoun would have found a way to pay Markel anyways.

My bad forgot to put it in context..

    Thx Hoyaeagle….

Btw 1st Rivals ranking for top 100 Juniors is up
    http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/rankings/rank-2752

    even though it's early

however neither Noel nor Iverson list the Hoyas on their list of interest (sigh)….to be continued

i dont think those new 2013 rivals rankings are accurate

the lists are wrong half the time

I’m sure we’re still very much in it with both prospects.

    Jabril's played in the IS8 Semi's today

His team lost to a bunch of St. Johns guys by 4…Bril had 14
Also playing in the Brotherly Love Game in Philly today for West Philly vs South Philly
    From Twitter:
Mike Goldstein “This has turned into to the Jabril Trawick show #BBL”

and from Keith Pompey who covers the Owls for the Philadelphia Inquirer

“A Nike grassroots official just told me Trawick reminds him of Keith Bogans.”

    Trawick

needs to perform right from the jump once he arrives to DC!

    Jordan Goodman de-committing from Rutgers
Does he want to come back

    to G’town?

    no chance

wonder if he goes to maryland because of hill

    I wonder what happend

to David Cox and his influence on him? (Goodman)…

cox doing as much for rutugers as he did for gtown.

biggest question is not where goodman goes, but if he can even qualify

    considering Arizona, Maryland & Rutgers
    Isn't UMD

    tougher academically?

thats what their fans would like you to believe

Was literally talking to a Rutgers grad 3 days ago about Cox

He was pumped how much he had done for recruiting up there…I told him, “Love him while you have him…he’ll bolt for another job within 3 years”…no sour grapes on my part, that’s just what he does. Now there are rumors he is trying to latch onto Memphis?

    Memphis?

is Rutgers not a good fit for Cox?

Cox is always looking for his next job

literally the day he starts he starts looking for the next landing spot. It’s just his nature.

    wow

    he’s seriously unstable.

    Anderson Tweets

    KyleAnderson5 Kyle Anderson
Ryan harrow not goin to St johns keeps them on my list. For everyone asking

Basically the moral of the story is if you want Anderson you better not sign another high profile PG.

Semaj Christon visiting this weekend via allenxis

do we hope for a christon commit? what will it mean for chances with anderson, dsr and robinson?

i say take him, he is under the radar but we need as much depth at guard as possible next year.

    It depends

what are are the Hoyas lookin’ for? A actual team player (ie, under the radar player like Semaj) or a potential star (Anderson/DSR/Robinson) who can perhaps take the program into the next level (ie, further along into the tourney).

Actually I hope JT3 keeps the Dematha pipeline going with Robinson.

i would be very happy with christon and robinson

but that will leave just one left in 2012 and two in 2013

    Keep in mind that

‘TRANSFERS’ or early NBA exits may occur as well for 2013, so therefore we shall see…

Anderson switching to the Forward position

    http://www.zagsblog.com/2011/06/10/kyle-anderson-moving-to-wing-this-summer/

So now does this mean ‘more options’ now for JT3 and hopefully grab Robinson or Christon to be the legitimate PG for the future?

    To be continued…..

    narrowed list to

seton hall, st johns, georgetown, ucla and florida.

hopefully jt3 is pitching him as the next jeff green.

2 ways to look at this

He and his father came to a realization he can’t play PG full time at the collegiate level and are embracing the point forward role. or some dream school of his not currently on his list (UNC for possible example) wants to see him at the forward spot and is willing to do so for a dream school if it means an offer.

    Or it means nothing.

    Stupid recruiting.

Literally every single thing can be dissected and examined as either being a positive or negative indication. But a lot of it probably means nothing.

    Come to think of it

the Hoyas DO NOT need another SF in the mix, so therefore perhaps he’ll drop off the Hoyas radar soon?

    From the Nova blog

Anderson is down to 5 (Hoyas are still in the mix)

    http://www.thenovablog.com/2011/6/13/2221767/kyle-anderson-down-to-5-schools-eliminates-villanova

a class of christon, anderson, bolden and a big would be outstanding

    That class

would be very scary to include with the kids the Hoyas already have on board (Porter, Trawick, Starks, Lubick, Adams, Bowen, Hopkins, Ayegba, Whittington etc…)

Troy Williams '13 was on campus playing pick up with the guys

    http://twitter.com/#!/troywilliams_/status/79537610611109888

    offered allerick freeman

    http://www.therecruitscoop.com/tennessee-georgetown-florida-nc-state-offer-allerik-freeman

Supposedly showing the ability to play point

and with that news folks he will be moving up the rankings! 6-4 pg = beast…..

On a side note Bolden’s really pushin Gtown hard to Freeman

    thats good to hear

because they were rumors that bolden might be wavering.

    i really like his potential

    So I see that

this comes as a ‘packaged’ deal with the Hoyas if they grab Freeman due to Bolden’s influence?

It’s good that the Hoyas have ‘many options’ on the table….

    Need more info?????

At 6-4 and 210 lbs he’s got great size for the PG postion. Although I haven’t seen much on this kid on You Tube, he sounds like a another Jabril Trawick.

Hoyas in the mix for 6'6" GT G/F Transfer Brian Oliver

    http://twitter.com/#!/AdamZagoria/status/82116008042696704

    Why

Take a transfer if we’re in the hunt for Anderson, Semaj, and DSR?

    Wow

this is crazy indeed, I’m all for the Hoyas with their options, however I think the more pressing issue that needs to be met is at the pg posistion. The Hoyas at the moment don’t need anymore SF’s in the mix. Unless more ‘transfers’ (the dreaded word) are being brought up again.

    To be continued…

    Maybe just for a year???

Several things are at play here, one Brian Oliver hails from Oak Hill Academy and two he is a Cuse killer. Looking at his bio he is a hell of a three point shooter, dropping 99 3’s in his two year career at GT, 32 of those points were against the orange. This is a little risky for the furture, but the recruiters seem to know what they are doing, (I hope)!!!!

    Not a great shooter..

He’s a volume shooter. Shot below 30 percent from 3 last year.

    the Prince-Town system

will negate that aspect so he probably won’t even look this way….

    Ice Asortse

    http://www.zagsblog.com/2011/06/21/the-best-name-in-hoops-the-iceman-cometh/

West Virginia, Marquette, Georgetown, Providence and Maryland are among the schools curious about the 6-foot-8, 240-pound Iceman. He is currently staying in Washington, D.C., and said he’s playing pick-up at both Georgetown and Maryland.

Another big body in consideration, does anybody else have any information on this kid? I mean the Hoyas really don’t need another undersized center at the helm.

He's one of Joey Boncore's Kids

    Just like Moses was.

    I pass.

    Great name though.

22 yo - JC kid, pass
    Gavin Ware to MSU
    Oh well

it was a good run to try and go after him though

I never understood why he was considering us. Everything he said was about playing close to home. Doesn’t mean much now but amazing Kirby got us in the final three.

    Indeed

Kirby is showing consistency with each recruit in regards giving the Hoyas a chance to having a say in consideration, so I guess it’s time to move on to Pollard ‘another SF’ to embark on!

glad others are noticing that anderson is perfect for gtown
His potential to be a match-up problem and his passing ability would be a perfect fit for Georgetown.

    http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/30328303

    Transfers In ...not out!!!

Does anybody have any good transfers at the PG that might be a good fit for GTown. This is silly season………….

Riek from Mississippi State is transferring

He is a big kid (7-1) we had vague interest in – any reason to get reinvolved?

    http://blogs.clarionledger.com/msu/2011/07/05/riek-leaves-msu-basketball-program/

Isiah Armwood (Junior at Nova) is transferring

    http://eye-on-college-basketball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/31396408

He is local – do we pursue? Definetly hurts Nova although it free up more time for Ochefu

    Transfer from within?

I’m sure Jay Wright would impose some restrictions on that one!

That right, I forgot about that rule

oh well. Still waiting for Mr. Anderson. 1 month to go.

    Patiently waiting as well....

    to be continued!

    James Robinson to Pitt

    http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/215261/James_Robinson_Commits_To_Pitt

I am ok with that, much rather get Nate Britt.

PG options are rapidly running out, though. There are a lot of eggs in the anderson basket.

    For 2012

But we don’t desperately need a pg in 2012, I realized that after seeing trawick play.

I think jt3 making the right decision putting all efforts into Anderson for this class. Very unique and program defining player, especially for thompson’s system

What is Brandon Bolden up to?

Does anyone have anything on him or is he JT3 new top secret weapon!!

He transferred high schools to Quality Education I thought

which should be an improvement considering how poorly his coach used him last year

Stefan Jankovic basically has cut us 5th out of 5

    http://eye-on-college-basketball-recruiting.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/29884776/31492819

But I did not think we had been chasing that hard since we have probably 4 forwards better than him already on the roster

    d'vauntes smith rivera:

    http://twitter.com/#!/Dvauntes44/status/105750433955450880

Is coach Brennon back from China yet, I been trying to reach him..
Sim Bhullar from Xavier to NMSU

    http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/215293/Sim_Bhullar_To_Attend_New_Mexico_State_Immediately

One time Gtown recruit cites canadian experience of NMSU. So New Mexico state is now South Syracuse?

    big fall upcoming

with anderson, williams and parker visiting.

    Tony Parker's visit

Still no dates, but will be going to OSU in Sept. and Memphis in Oct. So I dont think he is annoucing for several months. Oh and not a lot of Georgetown fans in the ATL.

    http://blogs.ajc.com/recruiting/2011/08/29/tony-parker-will-take-visits-to-duke-ohio-state-ucla-memphis-and-georgetown/

    We are few

    but we have a couple

    Short TJ Warren interview

    http://www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2011-0906/t-j-warren-enjoys-visit-to-nc-state/

Sounds like we are behind Kentucky and NC State

Judging from the tweet from Oak Hill's coach

Sounds like we are still after DSR (said Gtown visiting tomorrow).

I hope so, I like DSR. I know folks are not as high on him because of limited athetiscm but I think he could be a good combo guard. I like him a lot more than James Robinson. I would be happy with DSR, Bolden and Tony Parker as the class.

    this is good

if the Anderson sweepstakes doesn’t swing in favor for the Hoyas, this would be a nice option B.

And as you stated bringing in Bolden and possibly Parker as well would take the sting off of missing out on Anderson!

do we stand a chance with parker without anderson?

    If the moniker

    Big-Man U is still relevant, I believe so…

    Any word on Pollard

are we still in the mix with him as well?

    still in the mix

question is whether we can lure him from the south.

    I'm sure

Kirby and whomever else (on staff) is working on him. Then again do the Hoyas need another SF? Or rather will someone shift to the SG position.

    thats true

whitt to the 2? dont know enough about his handle, but its still early

    I have wondered the same

Why so many SF this year? Warren, House, Howard, Pollard.
Espcially with Otto/Trawick/Whittington and even Bowen in the class just ahead. And Troy Williams in the class behind (hopefully).

I understand cast a big net and all. But bring in bigs and point guards please.

we are slowly working our way up from the small ball of last year.

in 5 years we will consist only of centers

Its like a buffet at the top.......

Had to break out my note-pad and look at all the possibilities that GTown has between the 3,4,and 5 position. With the addition of Kyle Anderson (crossing my fingers), I’m hoping that the speculation of other players joining him comes true. I would like to see another beefy PF come our way, maybe Tony Parker. But with that said, how many scholarships will be available for 2012, and lets not forgett that this will probably be Hollis last year.

    Also include

someone possibly transferring, as we know how the Hoyas under JT3 track record consist of. So pretty much 2 available scholarships are sitting there calling on Anderson/Parker or
    DSR/Parker (or perhaps add Pollard/Parker).

There’s an article about DSR on the front page.

    gtown is leading for dsr
    Just wondering

if DSR would join the Hoyas (if the KA sweepstakes doesn’t swing towards the Hoyas), wouldn’t he be the 1st Oak Hill player coming this way?

    yup

most folks wrote him off as soon as he transfered

    Sayonara, Tony Parker

Doesn’t appear Hoyas still in the mix

    figured

it was a surprise we were able to jump back in

    Apparently we're still watching him
UCLA & Georgetown stopped by Miller Grove (GA) this morning to watch 2012 center Tony Parker workout, per his coach.

    via TheRecruitScoop

    WHAT??????????

    What happen with Tony Parker????

    LET'S GET REAL

Bet that Upshaw (instead of T. Parker), DSR, Pollard (thru our Miss connex) and Bolden are Hoya Frosh next year. Not a bad class.

    that would be incredible class

pollard is top 5, dsr top 25, upshaw top 50 and bolden top 100

im skeptical about pollard but would be happy with three – since that is how many scholarships we have left assuming hollis leaves

    Probably more a chance that

Tj Warren ends up here than Pollar IMO

Now here is something to ponder

what would happen if HT decides to stay his final season?

    Demathas jermai grant to syracuse

Hopefully he continue the heritage of underachievement

    DSR visit scheduled for tomorrow..................

Is this a home or on campus visit for DSR and are we rolling out the red carpet for him? Not much has been said about this kid, it would seem after KA went west everyone has lost hope!

    on campus

there are mixed opinions about him on the recruiting sites.

PG for 2013 is a must..................

I haven’t looked deep into the 2013 recruits at the PG position but I feel it maybe time to start!!! There’s Anthony Barber, Andrew Harrison, Nate Britt, & Tyler Ennis, all of them look to be potential Hoyas.

    Once upon a time.............

I had a dream that Tony Parker and Nerlens Noel played on the Hilltop………..OMG…….we regained our Hoya paranoia and sweep through the Big East Tourn on to the NCAA championship!!!!

    Robert Upshaw

He has narrowed his list down to louisville, georgetown, kansas st, and fresno st. So most likely louisville and us. We have a really good chance at this kid

    isnt he from fresno?
    Upshaw 12

Yes he is from Fresno, but I don’t think that he will end up going there. It will probably come down to gtow and louisville

    kennedy meeks

apparantly he is planning on coming to midnight madness ala hoyatalk

    josh hart

add him to list of midnight madness attendees

    @NationWideNolan
    Nolan
Josh Hart 2013 SG from Silver Springs MD and Sidwell Friends will be attending Georgetown’s Midnight Madness.

    What about Craig Forth?

    Dwaun Anderson?

I have to think this tweet is wrong – I thought he signed with Mich State. Unless its a different Anderson.

Dwaun Anderson will visit Drexel today, Wagner on Wednesday, Georgetown on Saturday. He will visit Seton Hall & Villanova, as well.

    http://twitter.com/#!/TheRecruitScoop/status/123764434081546240

Appears to be legit and coming to Midnight Madness

Kid decommitted when his mom died, withdrew from school. Would be eligble in January. 6-4 wing, Mr. Basketball in Michigan last year.

    http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/32661453

    But the Hoyas

are looking for a pg correct, not another player 2-3 position?

    PG for 2012+

would take another good player this year

If he comes maybe he enrolls in 2012?

Gotta think that would be Ideal when there is already 7 in our 2011 class with Moses having to redshirt and Bowen being a redshirt freshman this year

Btw Nate Britt was on campus on Monday

Bolden- Upshaw-DSR- maybe Pollard in the spring.

    TJ Warren

visiting Oct. 22 according to Scout

    Nice run here

    More Midnight Madness fun

DSR versus Bolden twice this year

Nov 1. Oakhill and DSR goes to NC to play Bolden and Basketball R Us Qualtiy Education Academy (QEA). QEA returns the favor and plays at Oakhill on Feb 13. With the lockout dragging on, ESPN Ocho will be looking for content so I actually think one or two of these will be on TV

Locally, Oakhill also plays at Dematha against a TX school on Dec. 10

    http://www.oakhillhoops.com/2010-2011-oak-hill-academy-warrior-basketball-schedule/

    Can you say "play nice"............

This is great, I’ve been wanting to see some video on Bolden since his recruitment. Also I hope DSR and Bolden play nice, I wouldn’t want either one to get hurt before they suit up for JT3 and the Hoya’s, no need for a feud. This should be the perfect time to get to know one another.

    Anybody know what happened?

    They played last night.

Word is Bolden didn’t play much...

and when he did had little impact…Dsr did what Dsr does, got buckets!

Awesome, at least he is tall.
so is there any truth that's

he’s grown an additional 2 inches to his frame? (Bolden)

not sure - really just going by

the Winston Salem Journal who listed Bolden as 6’11".

    twitter is the best

both Nolan Smith and Kyrie Iring watched the game. DSR had 18.

Here is the tweet from Oak Hill’s coach.
Stats from last night’s game: Adams 22 pts, Lewis 19 pts and 14 asst, Smith-Rivera 18, Hammons 6 pts, 9 blocks, and 9 rebounds. Warriors 2-0

    Recruiting never stops

Biggest reason not be a D-1 coach

We are involved with RJ Curington – a 2013, 6’5" SG/wing. Plays on Oak Hill behind DSR. Three star on all rivals, scout and espn

Tony Park will decide by early signing period

Likey after his visits to us and duke in early November. Early signing is Nov 9 – 16.

Competition is OSU, UCLA, Memphis and Duke – so I am already counting him as part of the class because of the low-rent competition

    http://blogs.ajc.com/recruiting/2011/10/19/will-lb-raphael-kirby-take-an-official-visit-to-uga/

According to the twitterverse Mr. Parks will not be visiting this weekend

Just now going to Duke at the end of the month. C’est la ve. Long Live Upshaw, Meeks or some other big man.

@SteveClarkLU Tony Parker confirmed that he will not be going on official visit to Georgetown as previously planned this weekend

    I'm all for grabbing Upshaw

as stated previously you can’t teach height!

    Dwaun Anderson visit cancelled

Was scheduled to come this past saturday. Obviously he was less a priority once DSR signed on. Assume the same with Kenyi but I have not seen anything on him.

    Official Visits!!!!

Is there a limit, per the NCAA, of visits that a university can partake in and if so are we at our limit?

    Good question

from what I understood is that there is a certain ‘dead period’ where the potential recruit can come on campus, however no member of the coaching staff can get in contact of that individual.

dont think there is a limit on visits for schools

    there are for recruits, though.

    there are definitely dead periods

Read on the other board Upshaw is on campus today...
nice, hope he had a good time

I am in the minority but would be happier to get Upshaw than Warren.

    agree, we need a big

especially with moses injured and adams injury prone.

    why not both, thought?

University of Louisville on Robert Upshaw

    White > Upshaw

Don’t blow it by making him feel he is not your first priority, call the kid up and tell him he is your priority and you want him to be the next star for cardinals

When you look at Upshaw’s list most of the schools are california ones anyway, seems like the kid wants to stay home – so don’t blow it with White!!

by I WantReeceBack! on Oct 13, 2011 9:36 AM PDT replyactions
    .

    Upshaw’s final list is

UofL, Georgetown, Kansas St, and Fresno St. So not really west coast heavy. Plus I’d like to have a player we can refer to as Bob Upshaw. Sounds like an accountant. Boom already got a nickname for him!

I bleed red and black. I poop blue.

by neecebravo on Oct 13, 2011 9:51 AM PDT upreplyactions
    .

I thought I saw another Cali or Nevada school in there

But I still feel like White is the best option because we will have Gorgui for 4 years I think and he is really not an upgrade over Prive IMO, seems clumsy a little

However, we lose 2 guards/wings in Kuric and Smith plus Wayne might be gone after 2 seasons and I definitely think White is an upgrade over Nunez

by I WantReeceBack! on Oct 13, 2011 10:15 AM PDT upreplyactions
    .

I too would prefer White over Upshaw.

Upshaw does look a bit uncoordinated, and I don’t see him being better than Gorgui or much better than Price. But alas, both are top-50 guys and I would be pleased to have either; and by the way, I think Nunez has a great future here

    Predicition, we get Upshaw!!!

-Willie Cauley wants to stay at home in Kansas and is rated higher then Upshaw according to ESPN, Kansas State also has no commitments for 2012 to entice a strong recruit class
-Louisville only has one scholarship lift and apparently really dont want Upshaw or at least not the fan base
-Fresno State is home for Upshaw but they currently have no commitments like Kansas State to entice a strong 2012 recruit class
    I hope I’m right!!!!!

I really hope Upshaw makes the move

it’s a no brainer to see he can definitely work on his development at Georgetown.

Does anyone know who’s recruiting Upshaw? Is it Othella Harrington, or Brennan?

    Well it can’t be Othella..

He can only recruit locally I believe… On a side note did anybody see on Max Preps they have Bolden listed at 6 11 now? I know high school measurements are sketchy at best, but if that’s true we might have our first 7 footer since Roy… Keep growing young fella! Oh and eat a cheesburger or 5 your Olive Oil skinny.. smh

Any Update on Upshaw's visit and did he travel to NC for the scrimmage?
    Any secret scrimmage results?
the team is tweeting as if it were a success

jabril said hoyas will surprise people

    they played 5 quarters

the hoyas won 2 out of the 5. word is we surprised them with our athleticism and talent

    doccumentation?
Theirs only one word to describe what I'm feeling about the 2011-2012 season and that is "Suspense"!!!

Is Warren making his decision this Monday?

    I mean today
warren will pick the hoyas wednesday

according to a couple freshmen on the team

    Whooooa.. serious?
yea, don't take it to be fact

but tyler n greg sounded pretty confident about it.

    if this is true

we are incredibly lucky to have JTIII around. Terrible facilities, conference meltdown, small fan base. Still landing top 15 clases.

    agreed

its pretty impressive.. this team is in better position to win over the next few years than it has ever been under JTIII

    I hope Warren

isn’t snowballin’ the freshmen just to get them off of his back….

    freshman on team

Where did you hear this from?

    tyler and greg
    Waiting

IS it wednesday yet…. the wait is killing me

    all but certain

word around raleigh is it is all but certain TJ is going to wolfpack. At this point all we can do is wait.

    Anything on Upshaw?
havent heard anything about his visit

a little odd there has been no buzz afterwards

    Hmmm, ok thanks!!!

Not worried but I guess K State could still be in the hunt, since Willie Cauley went to Kentucky. I still think Louisville is really looking for a SG instead of a center. I hope he qualifies academically!!!!!!!!

    just talked to tyler

he says last he heard warren was leaning towards NC st

    Optimism

thats real encouraging ( sarcasm)… So he was probably snowballing them after all.

    ya sorry..

thought i had something there, i chill with tyler and the boys regularly though and if i hear anything else, ill post them hear in an attempt to vindicate myself.

    TJ prolly did tell em

because he was on the fence and at that particular momement would have picked Gtown. Cest la vie.

    Hoyatexa.. Quick Question

Who do the guys on the team think is the best player on the team… Just being curious

according to the ones if talked to

its jason, but hollis is the better scorer. there is tension between hollis and some of the others on the team though and maybe that factors in to it. tyler and mikael are high on hank sims, they say he’s gona surprise alot of people.

christ if there are chemistry issues again

Hollis should just declare now and get it over with.

    outside of hollis..

i feel this team has great chemistry. greg, tyler, and mikael are all really close. i feel like lubick, bowen, and jabril are generally liked by all. otto and moses keep more of a distance off the court. henry and jc have great chemistry with the freshman on the court, off it, theyre the seasoned vets, as strange as it is to admit.

    let me clarify though..

i get the feeling that there is a strong respect among the freshmen and sophomores for hollis’ talent. on the other hand, his arrogance and selfishness rubs some the wrong way

another note on chemistry, specifically regarding the offense.. greg and tyler both expressed frustration about JTIIIs offense, especially after tedious practices the week after midnight madness. still, after bitching for a bit, they defend the offense, and then tyler says something to the tune of “freeman and wright were the problem, NBA talent can thrive in this system”

    Hmm....
"freeman and wright were the problem, NBA talent can thrive in this system"
i appreciate everything AF and CW did

but i am glad we have moved on.

However it seems that the wreckin' ball doesn't seem grateful and is still pissed about something?

    but we’ll never know…

    its a tough position

all these kids are told they are going to be the next michael jordan since they pick up a basketball, and after they dont make it, people whisper in their ears that it was their college coach that held them back.

im sure wright will come along.

Thx! what about amongst the freshman? Otto?
    among the freshman

otto is the most talented and the hardest worker. kid rarely goes out, pretty straight arrow. after him probably comes mikael. i hear that greg, despite being under the radar, has the most upside and is the best defender, both because of his athletic tools.

honestly though, theyre good one through five. i’m really excited to see jabril and tyler out there, theyve got a swag this team needs.

    caprio

hoyatexta lets be honest, we all caprio is gonna hit the ground running this year and take the college basketball world by storm (beyond delusional)

    caprio is one of the

most talented liked guys on the team, and not just among the players.. caprio is one of the more friendly people youll meet on campus

    Andrew White 12

we just offered him via evan daniels

    EvanDanielscout Evan Daniels
Andrew White just informed Scout.com that he picked up an offer from Georgetown last night.

Interesting because at one point we were his dream school. Then again, we were kyles dream school at one point too

Also interseting that DSR, White and Upshaw

were all scheduled to go to Louisville MM. DSR cancelled because he was committing to Gtown, White cancelled because of lacks of schollies and went NC State’s I think instead. Upshaw was the only one who went. I think White wants to stay close to home – but we are on him awful late. And coming on the heels Warren it just looks like he is second choice. Interesting we are not pushing harder on the bigs with so many 2/3’s in fold, even with Hollis leaving early.

    Why Andrew White?

We have Jabril, DSR, Aaron, and Greg that can play the 2.

    Robert Upshaw

is more important at this point

    Ture!!!

I like Upshaw’s size but worried about his athleticism, we need a big man all the other positions are good!!!

    Visit?

Does Andrew White have a visit date set up?

    per rivals

White’s most recent offer came from Georgetown, The Hoyas were a finalist for five-star small forward T.J. Warren, but when he opted for North Carolina State, Georgetown turned its attention to White.

“Coach John Thompson and his staff from Georgetown came to my game on Friday,” said White. "I talked to Coach Thompson later that night on the phone and he offered me a scholarship. We couldn’t talk to each other in person at the game, but we had a nice talk on the phone afterwards.

“Georgetown, you know, they’re kind of late getting involved in my recruitment,” he added. "I’ve got a lot of great schools on my list that have been recruiting me for a long time, so that’s something I’ve got to consider. Georgetown wants me to come for a visit, which would be my last visit, but I don’t know if that’s going to happen.

not very optomistic. If we don’t get upshaw, I would say it is time to move on to the 13 class

    7 Footer!!!

Jordan Dickson not highly rated but a work in progress, does anybody know this kid?

    Sorry thats Jordan Dickerson
    potential

He has great tools and potential, but needs to get a lot stronger. I don’t think we’re involved at all. Not many are

    JORDAN DICKERSON

Saw him play many times. Sat behind Kamari Murphy the last 2 years at Lincoln HS in Brooklyn. Can barely walk and chew gum simultaneously. Major project. Kamari Murphy killed your boy Daniel Ochefu at the Daily News Classic in the summer of 2011 BTW.

    Lol.....damn

If no Upshaw we should move on to 2013.

    jordan goodman

    decommits again…

    http://www.zagsblog.com/2011/11/08/jordan-goodman-decommits-again/

    Either MD

or he’ll go with G. Mason or G. Washington (if he can’t make it in College Park)

    im amused

because the umcp chaps said goodman committed to gtown because he couldnt get into umcp. now, three decommits and countless high schools later, he has the qualifications to make it in…

    Good talk.

    I think

it’s all about desparation b/c they only have 8 members on their roster. I don’t recall one person who’s decommitted so many times, this is insane.

    Goodman

is still in the view of the Hoyas?!

    http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/98458/jordan-goodman

Unless their information hasn’t been updated recently.

    upshaw update

9:58: Have been doing some digging on Robert Upshaw and his decision. One coach involved in his recruitment said, “Not signing today.” Louisville, Fresno State, Georgetown and Kansas State are involved. Louisville and Georgetown may be the leaders here. (ED)

    Louisville recruiting!!!

If my source is correct, Louisville is out of schalrships as of today when they picked up PG Terry Rozier,(unless they pull a UConn). I hope I’m right, this would put us in the lead for White and Upshaw!!

    Your correct

I saw this as well, so it’s pretty much a no-brainer, for Upshaw to make a move to the Hoyas….right?!

    I hope so!

except they pulled a Uconn before Uconn did

They put 3 players off scholarship this year to make room for their recruiting class. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them do it again.

    Chasing the odds!!!

K State just signed Laimonas Chatkevicius from Lithuania. He is currently going to school in kansas, in one report he’s 6-10 230lbs and in another he’s a 7 footer. The options are getting slim in Upshaw’s top four. I hope this is good for the home team!!!

    http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1291193

upshaw deciding over the weekend. hopefully come to decision by monday. not opposed to waiting til spring to announce

would love big bad bob on the hilltop

but he frankly needs a better name. Greg Monroe, Bob Upshaw? What happened to Deke, Othello, Zo, Boumtje-Boumtje. Best reason to get Nerlens Noel on board.

    confirmation will sign early

    http://twitter.com/#!/rodgerbohn/status/134801416840683520

Just got off the phone with the top center left on the board,Robert Upshaw from Fresno.Says he will definitely sign in November.
14 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

    Hopefully monday, hopefully us

    NERLENS-HELL YEAH !

Jarnell Stokes and Shaq Goodwin couldn’t even get shots off vs. Nerlens this summer. let’s wait a year and bring in Nerlens and Troy Williams. Then we got a shot at the Final 4 in 2014 !

    Maybe just maybe!!!!

Maybe Sims game today will lure Upshaw to the hilltop, seeing how the offense can run through the center postion. Maybe this was what he was wanting to see prior to signing.

According to telep Andrew white cut Louisville

    Maybe we have a shot

But the Hoyas need a big

grabbing another SG/SF would pretty much waste away a scholarship, unless we as fans can start speculating that (insert any name) will be pretty much transferring to another school next year.

    Upshaw

He is deciding tomorrow. Idk what to think about louisville. They have no scholarships left, but pitino could always have something up his sleeve. K-State just signed a big man. So it could come down to us and fresno

i wouldnt be surprised by a k state signing
    k-state

I wouldn’t be either. He and his family have really played this recruitment close to the vest. There is really no leader here. I guess well find out tomorrow

I guess we could count K State scholarships.

I would have to guess that one or two scholarships remain. Secondly, K State picked up Adrian Diaz last year, he’s another 6-11 220lbs center.

    we do have bigs too

adams, moses, hopkins and bolden are either the class in front of upshaw or his class. So from a recruitng perspective you can be sure Louisville/K State will be pointing that out. Now I think Upshaw is only true 5 outside of moses, and probably has a better upside so I do want him slightly more than white.

    This is from K State

    Not that I’ve seen.

But I heard one of our problems right now is scholarships, as in, we don’t have many. I’d have to look at a roster, but we’re young. The other thing that’s out there is if you’re coming to KState, you better produce and quickly or you’ll be transferring. So when a kid looks at KSU and they aren’t a five star one and done they take that into consideration. And Frankly, if they are a one and done they would much rather go somewhere they can get their balls suckeled than go somewhere they’re going to have to work their ass off. It’s not like we have a rep of making any one position infinitely better. So it’s not like the best bigs or points or shooters are climbing over each other to be here.

God that sounded depressing. All that to say, when we do get a kid we know that he’s willing to put the time in to be a better player, and person. I’m ok with that. As long as we keep putting up respectable seasons.

When life hands you lemons, make grape juice. Let them wonder how the F*ck you did it.

    .

Yeah, i think we only have 1 scholly to give.

    We are after…

Robert Upshaw Would definitely be happy with him. Cauley beat him head to head this year per Bossi, fwiw.

Demetrius Henry Pretty decent offer list.

Laimonas Chatkevicius Call him Moose because it’s easier. He is ours if we want him according to the last GPC update. He may reclassify to 2013 as well.

by WillieWannabe on Oct 31, 2011 8:13 AM PDT upreplyactions

    Decent chance it's Kstate

Eric bossi tweeted it’s one you would least expect of the three schools, plus rumors on Hoya talk that most louisville folks believe its kstate

    K-State

The odds aren’t in our favor. We haven’t heard anything about his visit, and there was never anything really there. IF we don’t get him I guess it’s onto andrew white, if we are serious about him, if not onto troy and kennedy. We aren’t getting nerlens

havent heard our name mentioned with noel in a very long time
    Nerlens

Yea, at this point he is a pipe dream. We should go full steam ahead for troy and kennedy.

    Nerlens

is pretty much a lock in the northeast region (see UConn/Providence), but who knows!

    between those two

much rather him go to providence

    DSR… Leading OHA

In scoring after first 7 games 19ppg

    Landen Lucas

Who we were involved with at one point, committed to Kansas. Very surprising KU was interested because most folks thought he had regressed.

    Dsr hit for 27 2night...

He’s leading a stacked OHA squad in scoring averaging around 20 a game..

    DSR

I think we got a steal here. He is going to be a great addition and don’t be surprised if he moves up in the rankings even more

^^^ He will probably either stay where he’s at or move down..

The reason being evaluators do not think he has much upside. Average athleticism and size for position etc… Who cares though! You will not find one person that doesn’t believe he is going to be a very good college guard, and probably a four year guy and 3 year starter for most high level programs.. He will most likely be the best pure scorer on our team as soon as he steps on campus..

    He would only move up

if he went to a school other than Georgetown.

    pollard drops kentucky from list

    http://www.aseaofblue.com/2011/11/16/2566149/kentucky-basketball-recruiting-devonta-pollard-cuts-uk-from-list-of

Is Coach Kirby still working on him?
    Hope so

I hope he is. I know we are a long shot, but we were a long shot for otto too. Has pollard visited yet?

    Andrew White to Kansas..

Is the rumor… nothing official yet

    Sigh

Losing two recruits in two days to the state of Kansas. Kansas people are nice, salt of earth, but it’s still Kansas.

If we sign anyone else in 2012 it will be a project slash future transfer candidate or we get lucky with coaching change and a decomit. On to Troy Williams and 2013.

On the bright side of things

is that Hopkins and Porter were on the KU target list last year, and the Hoyas were successful, so I’m ok with that aspect.

Noel listing Us, Cuse, Conn, The Friars, and Florida

Are all of these kids reading off the same selling sheet?

These kids are SHEEP, nothing more, nothing less....
    Andrew White!!!!

Georgetown not mentioned amongst any of the schools, have we changed direction or been deleted from the line up?
    http://www.zagsblog.com/2011/11/17/andrew-white-still-undecided/#more-61472

    probably both

and probably for the best. if anything, the last two games have shown us that we are incredibly deep at the wing positions.

    HAS ANYONE NOTICED ??

That BC and the Terps are two of the worst power conference BCS teams in the country ? Just plan baddd…..awful !

    Just wondering

would the BE bring back the BC Eagles?

    Do they have a pulse?
    doubtful

not after those comments the AD made about wanting to be new england’s team. uconn would never have it.

The BPM are critical at the moment
    KU Loss

Great game. Our boys lost, but this is a good young team ! Bright future. Needed to get the ball to Hollywood more in the 2nd 1/2, but overall a great showing. This is a tournament team.

All is not loss for Andrew White!!!!!!!!!!

We made the final cut of 9 possibles. Probably more like 7 with NC State having; (Purvis, Warren, and Lewis), also Louisville is out of schalorships. http://www.nbc12.com/story/16115440/spiders-among-final-cut-for-top-recruit-white

Is Pollard still in the mix

    for the Hoyas services?

    Doubtful

He will decide in the next week or two and we havent even gotten a visit

Where did you see he is set to decide??

From what I’ve heard he has always been a spring signing guy, and he is currently playing football..

Edit# my fault I thought you were talking about Pollard
    Devonta

Yea we are in his top 5. Idk why, but I have a feeling this could end up like the otto recruitment and we might be able to steal him.

    nate britt

    EvanDanielscout Evan Daniels
Nate Britt will announce his college decision on November 29th, per his father. Big news.

    most likely heading to unc

    yeah

i like our guard situation with starks, trawick, dsr, whit at 2/3, porter at 3/4.

we need to use those 2013 schollies on some bigs

Still have a shot with Andrew White

     isportswebchris Chris Resor
Andrew White tells me that while there are no leaders, KU and Georgetown are right near the top. Expect a decision in the next few days
    2 hours ago

We got in late (post TJ Warren) but he has liked us and we have been at his last two games at Miller School. Plus KU just took a SG in Anario Adams (he is only a two/three star – not sure why they did). If he is looking to stay closer to home we might be the choice.

    Interesting!!!!

If we get White, does DSR play point and has White had a campus or home visit yet?

If White comes on board, this would be pretty good (only if Pollard doesn't come on board)

I’m sure Bolden is giving him the scoop as well.

gtown in good standing with josh hart

    http://www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2011-1129/three-lead-for-13-sidwell-friends-josh-hart/

"Georgetown, Penn State [and] VCU," replied Hart when asked if there were any favorites or leaders in his recruitment.
Do we really want this guy?

Seems like a stretch right now… maybe a fallback option?

    I think so

lower half of the top 100 (four star by both rivals and scout), A local guard with decent size and can shoot. Why not?

I dunno maybe I need to see more but...

I don’t think we need another 6’3 shooting guard…Maybe we’re in on this kid early before he blows up, but Penn State and Vcu being our main comp make me believe his recruitment has not taken off yet…

Not much of a shocker on this one!!!!

Nate Britt, good luck young man !!!

Is he playing more at QEA recently?

I know he did not get much run against Oak Hill, but has he shown any signs that he gotten a bit better?

I have no idea, I can’t find stats for this guy anywhere, but he is being listed everywhere as being 6’11..

So if true, I guess that is a good thing.. At least we know he is playing against good comp everyday at practice QEA is stacked as usual.

    QEA

They are playing in tourneys in Md during december and January.. Go check this bolden kid. Scary how you hear so little about him.

    How's Hot?????

Is their anybody that we are holding out for or is this year a wrap for us in the recruiting battle. I feel like the remaining recruits are simply lost in the muck as far as finding their choice spots. I would like to see another top recruit come our way, but we don’t need problem kids!!! I guess what I’m trying to say is, these remaining kids need to make a choose and if we can grab an asset lets do it.

    12 recruits

we are really only in on two more, andrew white and devonta pollard. White is suppose to decide by the end of this week, and we have a shot at him. Pollard isn’t deciding till the spring and we are kind of a long shot. I say kind of because htere is barely ever news on him for any school, so it is kind of wide open.

I am hoping there is a decommit worth looking at as well in the springish

    Ricardo Gathers or the like.

A Kyle Anderson decommitment would be hilarious!!!!!

Not that I want him now after his circus recruitment battle with Rutgers, but it would be worth a laugh!!!!

Sorry was that Rutgers, St Johns, or Seton Hall that we had words with over KA?
    seton hall

the SHU blogger still contends that Georgetown was last on KA’s list, as if that matters at all.

    Andrew White

He is deciding at 5 pm tomorrow before his game. According to jerry meyer of rivals, he is a kansas lean

was hoping he would hold off

but if he is announcing tomorrow then it is almost certainly KU.

    So therefore our chances are

even stronger with Pollard? If this is true, this is good indeed!

Maybe in that we can make it clear to Pollard he is our priority

but I really am not holding out hope for him either.

I think I am ok with just Bolden and DSR, but adding a Pollard or transfer/decommitt would make me feel a lot better. Seeing the advantage of depth this year.

    Then again what's really

important is that the Hoyas still need another big on the blocks! I cannot envision any bigs decommitting anytime soon!

    Devonta
    Devonta Pollard

He was at the game tonight. What a game for him to see. Idk what this does for his recruitment, but it certainly can’t hurt it. He had to be impressed with what he saw

    Amedeo Della Valle

Does anyone have any information on him? I see that the Hoyas offered him a scholarship.

    http://georgetown.scout.com/a.z?s=433&p=9&cfg=bb&c=4&yr=2012

Yeah been talking about him for a while

6’5 pg at Findlay Prep (Btw JYD works at Findlay ) Good shooter and playmaker, plays extremely hard and is putting up pretty big numbers on a stacked FP team. Many people saying he could be a 5 star prospect when the ranking are updated…Arizona and Gonzaga are gonna be hard to beat out on this one, but he’s more than worth the effort.

anyone know the deal on davon hayes?

    rivals reporting gtown interested

Never heard of him - St Louis kid, did he sign LOI with Ark State for 2010?

    did he fail to qualify?

    answering my own question

In june it looked he failed to qualify and decided to prep for a year “back east”. From Mississippi orginially I think, so there must be a Kirby connection.

    http://www.kait8.com/story/14835101/john-brady-releas

Described on a Ark State board

as a high major athelete who just did not play AAU so not much attention. Anticipated losing him because the prep year will attract high major crowd.

Prepping at Mont Clare in PA, short write up – now listed as 6’6" They play New Hope Academy in Landover at 1, and played the Navy JV team last night in anapolis.

    http://www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/2292/Hoop-Mountain-Prep-Classic-Friday-Recap.php

At first I was like another shooting guard but then I read this..

    DavonHayes4 Davon Hayes
Im legit 6"7 now, this is trippin me out.

Apparently really cool with Tyler Adams and Jabril’s boy Joey Gripper.. He’s prep schooling in Philly at Montclare Academy..

Probably saw him at the Hoop Mountain tourney

We had folks their to watch a number of recruits, including Noel

    http://www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/2294/Hoop-Mountain-Prep-Classic-Sunday-Recap.php

Hayes put 28 and 6 assists against Darrick Wood (SJU signee). Wood did have 34 though.

    http://www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/2293/Hoop-Mountain-Prep-Classic-Saturday-Recap.php

    6’7 SG sounds intriguing..
    would he be 2012?

    6’6’’ jabril, 6’7’’ hayes, 6’8’’ whitt, 6’8’’ porter

    wow

    and then add

lubick, hopkins, adams, moses in the paint.

with starks and dsr at the point.

that would be a ridiculously long team next year

    Don't forget Bolden!!!
As I see it there is no

need for Pollard then, since the Hoyas are stacked at the 3 position.

    Yep 2012 Esh..

Supposedly pretty athletic but not a lot on him out there.. In unrelated news Hoyas trying to get in on Ricardo Gathers.. Yes please!

    Gathers, Pollard, Hayes

Any one would be great, in that order if I had my choice.

    His look is pretty sweet

flowing locks and all that. But I agree could be a solid pick-up if AZ stays away. Him and DSR and Trawick would be nice size in the backcourt. Less need to try to pick Jordan in 2013 as well.

    Gathers listed as 6'7 PF

does the Hoyas need a undersized player at the 4? Another Clarence Weatherspoon (for the older fans in us).

Not to say the kid will not grow, but I think the Hoyas should stay with the plan of length in it’s future.

    Gathers is a rebounding machine

He would be a fanastic get for this team

    Understood

however, I believe it’s better to have the added length, perhaps he (Gathers) could be another Dejuan Blair, who knows. Height cannot be taught, and hopefully the Hoyas could look elsewhere with a needed big down the road.

    Rysheed..

    TheRecruitScoop Alex Kline
2013 Vaux Roberts (PA) PG Rysheed Jordan had 27 points & 7 rebounds in a season opening win last night.

    season opening?

    seems late for season opening.

    DSR was not too bad!!!!!!!!

A solid 20pts and he was great from the free throw line.

Not bad got 20 on 11 shots I think..

Although he didn’t shoot it that well from the field 4-11..

Can score, didn’t look too athletic, looks like he could lose some weight to, but has a controlled game and understands where to get his shots. Very much looks like he thinks the game and he should be good in our offense because of it. Defensively he looked disinterested, got his hands on some balls for steals, but overall was not impressed with his game on that side of the ball..

His basketball IQ has to be one of his stronger attributes which is good

    Tony Parker OMG!!!!!!

Really looked nice, wish we were one of his top schools!!!

    He destroyed Oak Hill..lol

Hammonds didn’t look too bad..errr in the 10 minutes he played

Agreed. I re-watched on DVR last night -

while wrapping presents, errr, fighting communists.

    1. Please god can we get reinvolved with Tony Parker. Lost weight, stronger with great touch. Only reason Miller Grove kept is close. Embrassed Hammonds I thought.

    2. I may watch NC State games just for Ty Lewis who could not look less like a Division 1 player (5’ 11" 165 lbs). Best passer I have seen – and I am west coast guy – since maybe Luke Ridnour. He Purvis and Warren are going to have some obscene lobs at NC St.

    3. DSR is a scorer. Leading scorer on the best high school team in the country, whats not to like. Plays like a blend between CW and Free, with some of the plusses and minuses of both. Got to line well, did not finish great, nice stroke, indifferent D – kind of was looking to make steals and did get his hands on a lot of balls. Very happy if he is third guard with Starks and Jabrail. Best case comparison – Khalid Reeves/Jarrett Jack.

    4. RJ Curington – 6’4" Junior on Oak Hill plays behind DSR. We are recruiting him and he hit a couple of big 3s. Could certainly hand athleteically. Tough between him and Hart, but I think I prefer Hart.

    Check out Gathers comment!!!!

He may want to come to the Hilltop, Im just saying!!!!!
    http://www.zagsblog.com/

    I don’t get it..

We weren’t mentioned are you talking about the quote at the end?

Basically threw Gtown right up there with Kentucky and Duke

"Now, I’m thinking outside the box," Gathers said. "Now I’m looking ahead. I’m trying to go big now with [programs like Duke, Georgetown, Kentucky]."

He may not be listed at 6-9 or anything, but this guy is a true 4. The quest for the post-Sims center goes on, but you need rocks like Gathers to build top teams around.

    A rebounding forward named gathers

    Yes please.

    That article was crazy!

He wants to go big with programs like Duke, Georgetown, Kentucky, but we’re not mentioned as being in the mix???

he’s been listed with various measurements

    Zags 6’8"
    Scout 6’7"
    Rivals 6’8"

my opinion is that the Hoyas should go after someone other than the listed 6’8"-6’9" bigs.

Don’t sleep on this kid Spoon..

Those back door cuts that were layup become dunks if Gathers is the receiver..Seeeee Thomas Robinson from Kansas… (btw T Rob is also 6’8)

    Agreed

just at the moment the Ayegba/Adams era isn’t producing results fast enough at the moment (granted premature to say the least).

minor update on pollard from Scout

Still on his list, which he says includes-
Alabama, Georgetown, Mississippi State, Texas, Mizzou, and Ole Miss

    All met watch..

Notables.. Hart honorable mention.. Anya second team,.. Btw dude is super smart yesterday he completed his entire Junior year corse study and is now a Senior according to the write up! lol

    KT Harrell

from UVA has decided to transfer, I’m not trying to speculate, however would JT3 take a look at this guy (he’s from the Ala.; perhaps Kirby can get the scoop on him).

    6’4’’ pg 200 lbs.

    http://www.cavalierdaily.com/2011/12/24/kt-harrell-leaves-virginia-basketball-program/

    he's from Alabama
    K T Harrell

I don’t think we nor he would benefit by him coming to the Hilltop. He would more then likely play behind someone else and that seems to be the reason for him transferring. I would like to see Bowen come of the bench behind Clark, I think his size it would create a miss match and he’s got that 3 point shot.

But I'm with you on the big's, we need a 7' footer!!!!!
    Oh no doubt

for that I’ll try my best not to speculate any transfer possibilities, and as you stated let Bowen obtain more action on the court!

what is the 7 footer update

are we on anyone for 12/13 at this point that is over 6’10?

No…Bolden has been getting listed at 6’11 though.

When he will actually contribute who knows

    Speaking of Bolden!!!

I believe there was a Bolden sighting at the Memphis game behind the teams bench, two rows up, and in a pink polo shirt. I could be wrong?

    I think you're correct

I remember seeing him – with the throwback Jeff dreads

    Nerlens Noel!!!

These guys know more about his high top fade then they know about him. We need to show out in Louisville and have him come to the Hilltop!!!!!

Nerlens Noel Will Visit Louisville This Week
by Mike Rutherford on Dec 27, 2011 7:26 AM PST in Basketball

17 comments Email Print.According to a tweet from Jeff Goodman, star class of 2013 big man Nerlens Noel will be visiting Louisville for the Georgetown game on Wednesday.

Noel, a 6-10 center from Tilton School (NH), is the class of 2013’s No. 3 overall player according to Rivals.com. He’s being recruited heavily by just about every big name program in the country, including Kentucky.

And if you weren’t excited before…

    Yeah. You’re excited.

    Domingo.. Aka Baby Hollis

    sdomingo31 Stephen Domingo
Chillin at this Gtown practice. Where are all my Hoya followers?! lockerz.com/s/169942054

    Then he posted this pic

    I would love domingo

Smart and talented. Also Hart spotted wearing a gtown cap.
    http://www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2011-1229/recruiting-update-josh-hart-aquille-carr-brandon-austin/

Same article mentions brandon austin but sounds like he is leaning nova

Speaking of Philly guys..Rondae Jefferson mentioning us again 2 according to Recruit Scoop
A lil bit about Rondae for those that don’t know..

6’7 Consensus top 30 recruit, 19 Rivals, 27 Scout, 33 Espn. He’s very much a point forward can really handle and create for others. Above average athlete, great rebounder, but struggles with his shot. His shooting is his one glaring weakness, if he tightens that up than he would be in the 10-15 range easily.

Best thing about the kid when asked by reporters what he can bring to the table the first thing out of his mouth is defense. That being said his offensive game is really good, and even though he struggles with his shot he has no problems putting up numbers for a loaded Chester team.

In our offense due to his strong ball handling and playmaking ability he could either play PG (Reaching a little but hoping.. yes please) or Point Forward I imagine. He’s 2013 so he still has time to develop.

    Hmm....

me likey, hopefully the Hoyas can look his way if Troy Williams doesn’t sign with the Hoyas!

This is good to keep up with a commitment of playing D!

    troy williams update

    http://www.dailypress.com/sports/teel-blog/dp-teel-time-analyzing-the-five-college-finalists-for-phoebus-forward-troy-williams-20111230,0,1028400.story

Handicapping this race? Carolina, Kentucky and Georgetown seem inseparable; Virginia Tech is a tempting darkhorse, Villanova the longshot.
See this tweet from Broad Street brilly

    http://twitter.com/#!/JT55iVe/status/153259179807739904

Cant figure out how to quote on my phone, but basically that people questioned his descion on georgetown.

What is the main thing being used against us in recruiting? System? Why wouldnt a tough guard want to come to gtown?

As an aside what i really like about this team is that its almost the basketball verison of the total football approach used by the dutch soccer teams in the esrly 70s. Those clockwork orange teams did not have set positions but could slip interchangably from attack to defending. I feel like our team almost has that with everyone expected to be able to pass, shoot back cut rebound and defend from almost any point on floor with less emphasis on traditional positions – eg guards in the backcourt and forwards in the front court. It plays out in that just about anyone could lead the team on an given night- really like the balance and versitility.

    Same things as usual.

He likes to run, and we play a "slow princeton offense" same ol story

    ^this^

b/c the Hoyas employ a anti-ddr (dribble drive) offense, and focuses more on a team concept and less about the politics of individual play (see AAU bball).

That's a good question, what is the main reason recruits stay clear??

Does anyone have a good answer on this one.

    Future Visits!!!!!!!!!

Do we have anyone in the works at the moment. How does the future look for us, besides DSR and Bolden

    Mostly 2013 guys now Melvin..

Meeks, Troy, Domingo just visited again (provi game ugh), Anya, Rondae Jefferson, Noel, Rysheed Jordan etc..

    jefferson is out
He just recently listed us, last week I think?

    https://twitter.com/#!/TheRecruitScoop/status/152900408870846464

    aaaah rondae

    thought you meant amile

    Ahhh gotchya..

Side note I read something on a Md sports board that said Kendall Marshall had wanted to decommit from UNC and sign with us prior to his freshman season but 3 told him no because he had signed Markel.. Anybody else hear this before?

    Here’s the link

    http://mdhigh.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=566&tid=150047425&mid=150047425&sid=1002&style=2

    Wow...

that was very interesting material (even though it was half-truth to it), but I’m glad Markel is with the Hoyas!

Yeah I thought so 2..interesting..Why do you do you think it was untrue?
    Sometimes

you have ppl who think they have the scoop on certain material, but yet they want to withhold it?! My stance (viewpoint) is if you know something about Team Marshall yearning to become a Hoya, put it out there!

Just my personal stance, nothing more nothing less!

    No - good find

But frankly i like markel a bit more for our offense. Marhsall is a lot like aaron miles in my mind. Great passer, but cant shoot.

Markel is scary close to being another CW!!!

    SCARY CLOSE IF NOT BETTER!!!!!!!!!

    Starks

is definitely in more ‘control’ with the ball, I like CWrights as the emotional leader, but give me Starks right now vs. CWright as a sophmore (granted CWright was lost for the year due to that foot injury)

    Kids stay away because...

    1. Academics-you can’t take Basket Weaving or the Theory of Dodgeball at G-town. Inner city kids are not prepared to do this after the coddling and hand holding they’ve unfortunately (for them) been getting for all these years. They’ve been drinking the cool-aid so long about how great they are, that they don’t want to do classwork for too long, maybe until the 2nd semester ends of their frosh year. Look at Calipari’s record for kids: after 1 or 2 years in the NBA they go back to the hood and chill. They aren’t world shakers or rain makers, or even societal contributors. They don’t get degrees ! They don’t go anywhere.

    2. AAU Ball-The top kids are often uncoachable and undisciplined. AAU has prevented kids from learning the basics of basketball. AAU ball highlights your athleticism, but teaches you nothing about team ball. Little greedy point guards run up and down and hog the ball. They only throw hot dogg passes. Big men block shots and dunk, but never box out, never learn post moves, never learn post defense, never learn to pass, and all you ever hear today is “that there are no big men anymore”.

    3. Dick Vitale-He hypes all of his cash making buddies like Cal, Pitino and coach K$, but has always despised G-town since the days of Coach Thompson II and Patrick Ewing. I hate to even listen to him on the TV. He’s a hypocrite and a has-been. He sucked as a coach and now is in the HOF. What ?

    4. JT3 is too real-The top kids wanna be one 1 and done. Give me more G Monroe’s. Remember how he went from being #1 in the country to #20 ? Why ? Because he chose G-town and the people at ESPN and the other rating idiots just wanna use these kids and hype them so it helps their NBA ratings. The kids are a product for them. A commodity like the COMEX. JT3 tells them what they need to work on. He talks about their weaknesses but promises to help them get there. Other kids take the b.s. from coaches and sit the bench and end up nowhere .

    AND

georgetown doesnt pay for its players

pcbiz, I believe you have answered my question, thanks!!!!!!!
Tyler Ennis sighting at the Seton Hall/ Conn game

Seton Hall has eyes on him as well!!!!

Ennis out for Hall after they got Aquille Carr
Domingo wants us to get a W against Quette, let’s go get him one!

    Stephen Domingo
@JT55iVe goodluck bruh. Get that dub and a bang for me!

I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE (rather tweet)!
    Nice

twitter is the best for recruit junkies. Hart was also at game again in gtown gear. At this point, there is a lot of smoke with him. My guess is he is the next hoya.

    I'm sure Domingo, was rather

blown away by the efforts of the Hoyas against Marquette….O_o!!!

Who else was there, I counted at least three faces behind the team bench?????
    awesome interview with DSR

    http://recruitingspotlight.wordpress.com/2012/01/05/smith-rivera-says-parker-next-gu-commit-interview/

    DSR is solid

My only lingering doubt that should get resolved by Kenner next year is whether he has the quicks and strength to still bully his way to the paint and draw fouls against BE guards. Brill has a hard time doing that now and I think he is a significantly better athelete.

Would love to get reinvolved with Parker and appreciate the push from DSR – but I think that is a very long shot. Now if Parker actually comes for a visit – then we have a shot.

More concerned with him on the defensive end than on O

He’s wired to score and is a great shooter, he’ll get open shots in this offense everybody does

As he stated in the article

him and Trawick are really cool, so therefore what better way to be close with a team-mate who loves to be agressive on D?

    Does anyone

have ‘any’ updated material about Bolden?

    Might have already been posted

    Brandon Bolden, Center, Quality Education

Bolden is committed to Georgetown, and Hoyas head coach John Thompson was in attendance to watch his prized 6’11″ recruit. Bolden had a somewhat unimpressive game in terms of scoring (three points), but showed some flashes of brilliance. He is very athletic and moves well on the floor for a big man. He is a big-time shot blocking threat, but is fairly skinny, and will have to bulk up to do well in the Big East.

    Game Intros:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ1zr0DiEzA

    Bad news, he’s not starting

Good news you can’t teach height if that one kid is 6’9 Bolden(#32) is 7’8

    Not really something light...

Brandon Bolden 6’11″ 200 C 2012 Quality Education Academy (NC)
The Georgetown signee, is originally from Sumter, SC and is considered one of the top twenty centers in the country by many publications. The long (7’3 wing-span) and slender (could use some bulking up) Bolden held offers from The University of Georgia, UVa, Baylor University, University of Florida and Virginia Tech.

    Hank Sims

2.0 version? (hopefully w/out the delayed blossoming)

i know bolden isnt getting as much press as other bigs in the class

but i am very excited for his potential. hopefully he spends a lot of time with othella over the summer.

    That's what is so perplexing

he’s basically incognito at this point, can this be good or bad?

I got a question no one has asked?????

How’s are big’s coming along, are they recovering as to be expected? I see Tyler jumping up and down off the bench, and he tweeted that he couldn’t wait to start practicing again.

I bet he ends up redshirting..

It really just makes too much sense… With Moses getting a M.R this year that would put 7 of our 13 scholly’s in that class (Jabril, Otto, Moses, Whitt, Hopkins, Adams, and Bowen)

If Adams gets a M.R he would be a part of the DSR Bolden class and drops the Sophomores down to 6.

Not saying it happens but might be good for the program and him considering he wasn’t going to play a ton of minutes this year..

Didn't Moses have one already from last year's injury (M.R.)?

Or rather it was just a regular Redshirt year?

Nah he was suspended by the ncaa for receiving a plane ticket for I think 8 games..
    You're correct

I forgot about that issue it was either 8 or 9 games b/c of some snafu…

    Josh Hart

Looks to be a sure thing, seen him and his family sitting behind the bench sporting the blue an gray

    smh

so he witnessed the debacle first hand against Cincy, so I’m sure he could see what’s really going on during those tv timeouts!

    Question, Who is Old Hoya?

I think I know but not sure!!

if you think you know, you likely do…

Does anybody have the link to Jerry Meyer's Mail Bag???

Devonta Pollard and Troy Williams are on tap!!!

    Anya

are we still involved? Watched a bit of Dematha and he looked much improved. Lighter and taller. I think I would like him over Meeks.

    ^I second that

A home town boy, Dematha connection, his conditioning should not be in question, and I heard he’s got a good motor.

I have seen him play twice

both times at the Cancer Research Classic in Wheeling WV. The improvement between last year and this year is very impressive. Last year, conditioning seemed like a major issue; this year, he dominated the paint against a good, if undersized, team. Looks like more of a pounder/grinder as opposed to a skilled passer.

So he's more of a Julian Vaughn then

now didn’t this hamper JT3 schemes last year?

Looks like more of a pounder/grinder as opposed to a skilled passer.
Anya is the same size as Gathers

but with a longer wing span? I mean if JT3 is willing to take a shot at him, go for it, and continue the DeMatha pipeline. This will give the Hoyas a even stronger presence in the DMV!

Anya didn’t look so great today.. off day maybe?
    It's cool

as long as he’s grinding away towards progression I’m all for it!

    Troy..

    http://recruitingspotlight.wordpress.com/2012/01/16/williams-favoring-uk-unc-set-up-last-visit-for-feb-1/

i think the ship has sailed on that one
I think we have been 3rd behind UNC and UK for a while

Hard to blame the kid. I think if he had not had the jump this summer – and stayed in the 50 to 60 range we prolly would get him.

At least he is visiting us so maybe there is a chance – maybe.

    Not over till it’s over..

I went to the MLK Hoopfest Showcase to watch Troy and Josh Hart play. Troy had a horrible game in which he had more turnovers than points. Clearly, the guy has a big upside, but he could not make anything happen and did not look like a top ten player.

Hart had a very solid performance. His outside shooting was off, but he goes hard to the basket and had a couple of strong dunks in traffic.

I guess the aspect of 'family' doesn't play a factor after all...smh!

    Oh well!

    A little down about 2012/13

We dont seem to be close on any bigs except maybe meeks. bolden is routinely getting DNPs for his high schhol team. Did not get warren, anderson, upshaw or white. Faded in running for noel, tony parker, gathers, troy is becoming a long shot.

hart is probably most likely recruit but mirrors what DSR does. And neither is super atheletic. Really dont want to lose the mo from this years class when we can see how effectve rangy wings can be.

That said its not all bad, land hart, pollard or domingo and meeks and at least it wont be wattad and benimon and vee off the bench.

If they landed those 4 our team would be insanely good..

Hart is probably more comparable to Jabril than DSR.. Rivera’s more like a Austin Freeman type but remember Austin was a top 15 guy… Domingo is like another Hollis..

That being said not sure we will land any but I’m sure we will get some good players.. The staff is all over the place recruiting

    Perhaps

BJ Anya will be option B, if no other bigs will come around, and besides that’ll keep the DeMatha connection flowing!

you never know what else is out there

porter and whittington were late signers. no one knew about trawick.

i think jt3 is publicly putting all his chips in with the big names, but has a secret stash for under-the-radar types

no your right - III has always done well when focused

here is brief mention of us with Nigel Williams Goss and the aforementioned Amadeo Della Valle (of the Valley?).

I hope he comes this way and continue the Cali connect to DC!

Short blog post from that I had not seen before

Says his SAT is 1850 – no idea how good that is with the new fangled scoring but I assume much better than the average recruit. We do sound like a good fit for him – Bigger City, Good Academics.

    Haha I don’t think it’s that bad..

Every kid says they want to play up tempo, even the fat outta shape guys.. lol But he did say he wants to play in an offense where their bigs get the ball in the high and low post.

    Other recruiting news tidbits:

III went to see Parker on Saturday http://www.thecrier.net/sports/image_7d402766-469a-11e1-a7a4-001871e3ce6c.html

Also this from Nolan on Pollard "from what I’m reading on twitter, there is an update on 247(Texas Message Board) and the gist of it is:

Enjoyed Texas visit, WILL visit Georgetown and Missouri and decided between Bama, MSU and UK for final 2 visits."

    Fun Fact

I wrote for that paper covering HS football while in HS myself. The Editor is a ’65 Hoya.

In unrelated news, how did I miss JT3 being a few minutes from Mom’s Basement?!?

Sorry meant to post this here...

    New Espn rankings for 2012…
    http://espn.go.com/college-sports//basketball/recruiting/playerrankings/_/view/espnu100/sort/rank/class/2012

Arizona’s class is ridiculous… How in the hell is Jordan Adams rated so high? He can shoot but he’s a fatty mac. Dude is the Josh Smith of small forwards..Oak Hill/Ucla effect I guess….shrugs

    Wondering how

UVA has signed more players (2012) than G’Town…fwiw!

In this case Tony Bennett runs the ‘same offense’ just like JT3 (but with a twist of lime). Should we as fans be worried, due to the lack of signatures? Not stating that the staff isn’t tryin’ hard to bring in quality players, however where is it that the staff is coming up short.

Perhaps I’m just being delusional or rather paranoid….To be continued!

    Justin Anderson

sort of fell in their lap when Gary Williams retired but Bennet has done a great job. So has Houston – House really raised his stock. Don’t understand how James Robinson passed DSR .

I think we have a decent chance with Pollard but agree on 2012 guys. But again I am not sure we need it. With Bowen and likely moses redshirting – we will have a 6 person sophmore class – and freshman class of DSR, Adams and Bolden, with two juniors (Starks and Lubbick). 11 kids is light – so no injuries. Maybe take a transfer.

    This

Between Moses injury, suspension, and limited playing time as a frosh it’s almost like you have a 4 person class with Dsr, Addams, Bolden, and Moses as is…

    I agree perhaps

I’m not lookin’ at the ‘bigger picture’ in regards to recruiting/injuries etc….

This is where I'm tryin' not to go back to speculating in that regards (transfers), the Hoyas have lost quiet a few bodies in that department.
    Maybe take a transfer.
On a side note has anyone noticed the insane amount of transfers UCLA has had recently??

Matt Carlino (BYU), Jamison Morgan, Mike Moser (UNLV), Drew Gorden (New Mexico), Chace Stanback (UNLV), De’end Parker (TBA), Reeves Nelson (dismissed TBA) etc..

Between that and guys jumping to the pro’s way before they are ready (Richard Mbah a Moute, Malcolm Lee etc..) it seems players can’t wait to get away from Howland soon enough..

Wonder if he survives the year. Ucla isn’t used to missing the tourney 2 out of 3 years and .500 winning percentages.

Add Tyler Honeycutt to that list of unready NBA draftees..
    Howland has a mess

I don’t think a chucker like Adams and Kyle Anderson are going to solve a lot either. Wear twins are not fast. Kyle aint fast. Smith is smith. I think they are middling again next year. He is on thin ice.

But also reinforces transfers happen anywhere. Herb Sendek at ASU quoted a statistic that 40% of bball players who sign an LOI with a D-1 school are not at that school by the end of their sophomore year.

    Wow

those are alot of heads who’ve left that program.

In regards to their recruiting they already have Kyle Anderson, and now their really workin’ on Shabazz Muhammad, and then they’ll leave the program after 1 yr.

Furthermore the Pac-12 is so weak that Cal is likely the only team to make the big dance.

Troy Williams to visit on the Feb 1st

I say bring in Stephen Domingo as well and see which one really wants it, I think Troy really wants to go to UNC!!!!

    Either one would be great..

Maybe Domingo is a better fit due to his skill set..

Hopefully Troy really did enjoy Midnight Madness at that start of the season

also I hope his aunt gave him the advice to come to G’town!

    Bolden’s Height mystery solved..

lol I’m 6’10, paper me 6’11"@yaboynyp: Wondering how tall my boy @_BrannWale7 is now?? Is it 6’9 or 6’11 inquiring Hoya minds want to know!"

    Cool

    this is good….

    Amadeo Della Valle

6’6 PG out of Findlay Prep (been mentioned on here before) It was believed that he was a strong Arizona lean but who knows. A very intriguing prospect here’s an article that mentions some Hoya interest. Get er dun JYD

    http://nationalhoopsreport.net/2012/01/23/how-to-make-it-in-america-amedeo-della-valle-turning-heads/

    outside of Pollard

he is the 2012 kid I want. Anderson with less skill, but better motor.

    wow if ADV joins

the Hoya nation, again this can lead to ‘BIG’ lineups across the board!

Plus we can rev up the...

Amadeo Amadeo.. Amadeo Amadeo.. oh oh oh Amadeo!! Chants… lol

    Yes this is old

but hey, it’s all about DC being the Hoyas playground…

    ESPN Basketball Recruiting Updates!!!!!!!!

ESPN has posted their scouting updates and some recruits have dropped in grade. One that comes to mind is our very own Brandon Bolden. Apparently he has dropped one point from 90 to 89 and remarkably enough he also lost several inches in height to 6’8. Check out others that you may have in mind and see where they place.

    Saw on zags

we were involved with Orlando Sanchez – a 6’8" JC F who played on the Dominican National Team. Sounds like not much faith in Nate, Bolden, Adams, Moses next year.

I think it just means we’re going after Orlando Sanchez..

We have been recruiting bigs all season mainly Parker, Upshaw and Gathers to a certain extent..

    Some Videos of Orlando:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSaAcWeAyMQ

    Bunnies..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCeGCDUuqac

    Shooting the 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3kP6vYqG….=5&feature=plcp

But Gathers, Parker, Upshaw would be behind the current guys

Sanchez would be the same position and class year as Nate, with Adams, Moses, Hopinks a year behind. If I was any of those guys I would be worried about playing time.

I feel what you’re saying.. but this kid is more of a 3-4 than a 4-5

More Otto Porter than Moses or Adams

    WTH?

did Sanchez kicked if off the ground and flushed it?!

Maybe he can be on the soccer team too.. shrugs
    that was purely

athletic all the way on that move…

Yeah he’s got some ball skills too, and good form on the jumper as well..

Looks pretty solid. Add to the fact that he is 23 now and played in the worlds for the DR with pros like Hartford, Villanueva, and Garcia and you have a pretty seasoned recruit that’s probably ready to contribute right away..

    No Way

Gathers, Parker, and Upshaw would have all gotten immediate playing time. They are bigs, and georgetown desperately needs bigs. Parker would be an amazing get, but it is highly doubtful

    Nerlens Noel reclassifies to 2012

    http://www.therecruitscoop.com/nerlens-noel-reclassified-back-to-2012

I think the re-classification only helps us. There is a wide open starting job in the middle next year.

    Yeah.. Pray it’s us...

“I think I’m going to visit Kentucky, Florida, Georgetown and North Carolina,” Noel said. “Some of the coaches gave me dates but I have a couple of big games on those days so they’re not really planned yet.”

    That's tough competition for us

But there’s always hope. He will immediately become my favorite Hoya of this recruiting cycle if he keeps the flat-top.

    Long Shot

As much as I would LOVE to get Noel, I think it is a long shot. Yes, he would be a perfect fit, and could propel the hoyas into national championship contention, we have a small chance. As it stands now Cuse probably leads for him. The best thing G-town could do is to get a visit from him. If we can get a visit we have a shot.

A few things to keep in mind when looking at competitors for Noel:

Cuse: They already have Dajuan coleman, but still they will as hard as possible on noel.

Uconn: If Drummond were to stay, then I think that would all but eliminate them.

Kentucky: They have Willie cauly, but Coach Cal will go all out to get Noel. But keep in mind, Cal will still be working hard to get shabazz.

    We have a small shot

never understood the appeal of a 2-3 zone for a big man

sure it pads your block stats but doesnt help with development. too bad nba is all about draft day payday and not second contract

He also grew up a Hoya fan FWIW
Cuse is actually hard to believe

I really don’t see him picking cuse. they already have melo, and coleman is on the way

Melo probably gone.. Especially if he’s already having troubles academically

Not buying the whole class cheated rumor.. A kid from his class would have already confirmed that IMO… However they still have Xmas and Coleman Fwiw…

If you’re the number 1 recruit in the nation though doubtful your concerned about whose on the roster at your position.. We’ll see

    Not to mention christmas
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Kyle anderson grow up rooting for the hoyas
    never heard that one

    grant hill did…

He said UNC and Gtown were the first basketballs he had received from his pops..

But yeah that’s why I said "FWIW"

Well regardless, I think Kentucky will be stiffest competition
Did Troy visit yesterday for the game?

Not that we have a great shot.

    Stolen from the other board...

    1st Noel:

“Georgetown, who Noel is also planning to take an official visit too, had John Thompson at one of his games last week.

"Their interest is high too," Noel told Scout.com. "Coach Thompson was up here last week for one of my games. Georgetown is a real good school basketball wise and academically.

"They just have a great history with their big men and the Princeton offense and where their big men are always involved," he added."

    http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/1155223.html

    And 2nd Tony Parker:

“My coaches said Big John (former Georgetown coach John Thompson Sr.) was at my game last Saturday versus Dunwoody. Having him at one of my games is an absolute honor because he is a great coach and man. He has done a lot for basketball, and my family really appreciated him coming because they grew up watching Georgetown in their neighborhood. If you were a good basketball player, Georgetown was the place to be.”

    http://espn.go.com/blog/high-school/boys….her-tony-parker

    great things to hear

    now need to close.

Nice song and dance but are they going to visit??

They both need to make a commitment to visit. I don’t think these guys would want to play behind Moses and Adams and I’m sure neither Moses or Adams wants to lose a spot but what does one do.

Noel will visit.. TP maybe not..

Ohio State definitely feels like they have Parker in their back pocket.. The bigger thing is Big John going to see some of these kids play that aren’t in the DMV area.. Where as a lot of these kids may not be familiar with those old Hoya teams, their parents definitely know and he is an Icon in the African American community.

Certainly can’t hurt things but still Parker is a long shot.

As for playing time, Noel plays 30+ minutes from the jump no matter whose on the roster. Parker probably 25. Noel’s AAU team plays a similar offense to ours from what I understand. He gets a lot of touches inside and out, and they run the offense through him similar to Georgetown.

We just need to keep winning games on the court and that plus hardwork, will win us some of these recruiting battles.

Noel’s AAU team plays a similar offense to ours from what I understand. He gets a lot of touches inside and out, and they run the offense through him similar to Georgetown.
    oops

What I meant was this is very hard to believe b/c this day in age, just about every AAU team play isolation basketball.

    Jordan Brand All Stars announced

“DSR”!http://espn.go.com/high-school/boys-basketball/story/_/id/7529171/2012-jordan-brand-classic-rosters?eleven=twelve make it. Jermai Grant did – don’t get that choice over guys like Pollard. Tony Parker is the only guy are still involved that is undecided. I think Porter made this game last year.

    link fail

    here

DSR did not make it. So former targets House and Kyler Anderson did.

    fine with that

porter got no touches last year. it is just another high school AND-1 game

Looks like Noel once to take a look at the Hilltop

Lets tidy up a bit and roll out the red carpet!!!!!!!
    http://espn.go.com/blog/high-school/boys-basketball/post/_/id/2871/nerlens-notebook-back-to-2012

    Rene castro

2013 Pg, 6 1’ 2 star from milton said we recruiting him. Keep lots of lures in the water.

Same article also a short write up of the nation prep school invitational. Devon hayes who was mentioned earlier plays for mont clare who is playing at the tourney but he was not mentioned.

    Davon Hayes

Had 18 and player of the game for Mont Clare for their last game at the NPSI

He fits the mold of the type of kid we have been going after recently – 6’7" athlete. A Warren/Pollard light.

DSR has been on fire lately:

Thursday he had 24 vs Jordan Goodmans Arlington Day team. He was 6-10 from 3 that game

Friday he had 29 and 5 assists

    Saturday he had 35 of OHA’s 71

Speaking of Goodman, is he still just hangin' around lookin' for a team to join?!
    Jordan Goodmans Arlington Day team
    He’s working on #4 I think...

Already decomitted from Us, Rutgers, and Texas Tech..

    He had 18 btw..

    Bolden to play

In something called the Mary Kline Classic in NJ in May. Its an allstar game. Ochefu is probably the biggest other name

    http://www.therecruitscoop.com/category/interviews/international

Jabril played in the same tournament, check out the picture on the home page
    Pollard to be a Mickey D all-american

    per the local rag

As aside the kid lost his dad to cancer in 2009

and their house burned down last year. Tough run – hope it works out for him whereever he ends up.

    DSR going to china

so hopefully Oak Hill also gets into a brawl and DSR becomes BE ready

    Class of '12

G-town is this-close with borth Pollard & Noel. Especially with Uconn out the tourney in 2013.

Saw Noel last sumer. Like someone mentioned above: THEY PLAY THE G-TOWN OFFENSE ON HIS AAU TEAM (Ask Lube). He dominated Jarnell Stokes and Shaq goodwin when I saw him.

BTW the UConn women actually run G-town sets in the 1/2 court too.

    re uconn

are we expecting any de-commitments after their post season ban? i heared durring the broadcast that harkless was a uconn commit, but open his recruiting after allegations started to surface.

I think they only have Omar Calhoun committed

G from Brooklyn. And he might not jump ship. More likely everyone who thinks they are NBA material will declare – Drummond, Lamb, Napier – maybe even boatwright. Orakhi would be eligble to transfer and play immediately as well.

It helps in that it weakens a strong competitor and hopefully ushers Calhoun out the door. But at least they got a practice facility.

I don't think the Hoyas have enough scholarships to offer both, a big (w/height) is more preferred.
G-town is this-close with borth Pollard & Noel.
    they do if hollis leaves

also, dont be surprised by a transfer this season

    #commentswecanmakeeveryyear
    This is what

I was trying to avoid giving the person’s initials of A.B.

dont be surprised by a transfer this season
    U Cons

Drummond and Lamb will declare. Yes they have Omar C from CTK, but can’t believe that any big-timer in the clas of ‘12 will chose them knowing that they can’t play in the tourney next year. And won’t be surpised if some guys transferred (Roscoe and Deandre D in particular).

Noel is a bright, intelligent guy, just like Devonta P. They are winners and if the Hoyas land one or both, they will be a fave for the 2013 final 4.

this thread is getting a bit unwieldy

meanining I hate scrolling all the way down on my phone. Can we start a new one?

    ingrates

yeah ill do it later this week

    thanks - because

otherwise where will I put my critical update that Amedeo Della Valle has cut Utah, Umass, USC and Portland from his list

leaving UCLA, Arizona, Gonzaga, St.Mary’s, Ohio State, California, Georgetown, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, and Kansas

    From 15 to 11 huh?

lol Looks like we’re the only east coast team on there. I think those first four teams will be in it until the end but hopefully we can pull it off. Would be nice to add a 6’5 point to the mix.

Also the closest one to Italy

with a broader international student base than most of the schools listed. Whom I am kidding. I want Pollard.

    Nerlens

is who we need to replace Sims on the block.

    absolutely

just the distance from Nerlens to the hilltop seems much farther/further than for Pollard.

Nerlens cant make the Nova game, has not scheduled a vist yet, Providence and Cuse and every other major school has been putting in work. If Noel schedules a visit – then maybe I will get my hopes up.

    Agreed

it’s almost as if to say why bother even listing the Hoyas as a potential team.

no wonder kyle anderson chose ucla

Giada - although the Fall guy girl wasn't bad either

fall guy had a very underated theme song

    Kaza Kajami-Keane

2012 – 6’2" PG * on rivals from Canada/North Carolina listing us as recruiting him but he sounds wide open

The fact we are still involved with 2012 PGs (e.g. Amedeo) means staff are not sold on DSR as the PG of the future.

    ..

    http://vimeo.com/36453805

I have been receiving some very good reports about Kaza Keane, who could be the top Canadian point guard in the 2013 class.

The Toronto native who attends the Christian Faith Center Academy in Creedmoor, N.C., is 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds. He has excellent court vision, 3-point range and plays with good energy and urgency on both ends of the floor. Keane is also a good defender who puts good pressure on the ballhandler and is alert in passing lanes. He has good but not elite speed and quickness, but seems to have a great feel for the game.

“What I do best is make plays; I do whatever my team needs. I have good court vision and can score, when needed. I need to add strength and be more vocal,” Keane said.
