The 6-foot-6, 190-pound Williams is the nephew of legendary AAU coach Boo Williams, who told Five Star Troy has trimmed his list to North Carolina, Kentucky, Georgetown and Villanova.
"I think he probably will get it done in the next six months," Boo Williams told Five Star.

Villanova?
I didn’t even realize they were recruiting him. Let’s hope this doesn’t become another Ochefu situation.
DHB Enterprises - January 26, 2012
ochefu picked nova because he wanted to play close to home. if troy williams wants that, he is all georgetowns
Hire Esherick - January 26, 2012
I thought Ochefu picked 'Nova
because of their history of develpoing big men and/or Jay Wright’s impeccable pocket squares.
I agree that we’re probably talking about a UNC player here, unfortunately.

In all fairness..
our big men get better under Wright. I’m not even sure if Dante Cunningham could dribble before he got to Nova. What we don’t get are talents like Ewing, Mourning, Monroe etc…

That kind of successful recruiting warms this old alum's heart.
NBA multi-year All-Stars Elgin Baylor and Dave Bing were both record-breakers at Springarn HS in NE DC. Both wanted to go to Geogetown and neither got the slightest consideration, due simply to the color of their skin. After leading Seattle University (a Jesuit school) to the Final Game of the NCAA, Baylor was the first pick in the 1958 draft and was credited by the Lakers’ owner with saving the franchise.. For you young guys, that was the Minneapolis Lakers. The Hon. Mr. Bing is was an All-American at Syracuse who is currently Mayor of Detroit.
Georgetown gave its first athletic scholarship to an African American in any sport in 1964, to Bernie Williams (C’68), a point guard/role player from New Jersey. Bernie was a heck of a guy. I remember vividly an interview with him in the studnet newspaper, in which he talked about how comfortable he is in his own skin. He had to be, because he was probably the only black face in just every class he took all four years. Bernie was an inspiration to me a few years later when I found myself the only white face at a birthday party in Detroit for a soldier back from Viet Nam. That was a stunning wake-up for me.
You must all remember that ALL of the Hoyas successful recruiting in DC-MD-VA is very recent. Thank Bernie White for inspiring me and for being the James Meredith of Geiorgetown.

If you don't know about Kris Jenkins...
You better ask somebody. Don’t know why we haven’t gotten the Gonzaga pipeline flowing earlier, seeing as it is a Jesuit school in DC with a great basketball program and JT3 is an alum.
GhostOfWattad - January 26, 2012
W/o britt he has looked good
but he plays the 3 on offense and defends the 5. not sure how that balance translates. Maybe if we had a football team
bunk moreland - January 26, 2012
Yeah dude is fat.. it means nothing if you give us 15 on O and then give up 25 on D
Good shooter/scorer though..
yaboynyp - January 26, 2012
sorry did not mean he was fat
just his physicality and skils don’t mesh. He could create mistmatches with his skill on O, but I am just not sure he can defend BE 4/5s. He handled Anya when they played. I think he could work very well with a tall line up ala Whitt, Porter, a PG, and Lubick/Hopkins
bunk moreland - January 26, 2012
My bad, my words not your Bunk..
Honestly I wish he would slim down ant at least be able to guard SF’’s because he is a great shooter from outside and can score with either hand in the post. He has great footwork there and if he could he would be amazing in this offense because guards and forwards get post up opportunities often. Regarding his shot he has excellent balance and follow through on his jumper. Most of his makes don’t touch rim.
The bad: Overweight, slow laterally on defense, and who can he guard? Too slow to guard small frwds to small to guard PF’s. Dude is a solid solid player really wish he would work on his body, speed and quickness.. Lastly does he fit?? 3 excels with long lanky athletes Jenkins is not that. Neither is Dsr for that matter but at some point we have to have some guys who can put the ball in the basket right?
I’ll post a link to one of his vids for those who have not seen Kris play
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA5JTT95uDQ
yaboynyp - January 26, 2012
I loved that YouTube of Kris Jenkins
BUT he is in a bad place right now, too short for the 4 and too big for the 3 position. If he had at least another two inches he would be a beast at the 4, as well as if he dropped 20lbs he would be a major mismatch at the 3. He looks like an overweight Freeman. I would go so far as to see if he had some more growing to do maybe an endocrinologist might help. I would still keep him in mind, he’s a hell of a scorer.
Melvin M. Tuggle III - January 26, 2012
Pretty much nailed it..
yaboynyp - January 26, 2012
Not really trying to get in an internet argument, but...
Jenkins has used that “fat” frame to shut down help shut down centers Beejay Anya (#16 overall 2013) and Jahlil Okafor (#2 overall 2014) in games this season, while scoring 27 and 30 points in those games.
Not to mention the kid’s flat out a winner. Gonzaga is undefeated and ranked #5 in the country, with Jenkins carrying the team in almost all of their big wins. He’s going to move up the recruit rankings after the season he’s had, and it would be nice to see JT3 get in the door early.
GhostOfWattad - January 26, 2012
Very True but Okafor is very limited offensively at this point...
And I’m not high on Anya at all.. He seems to struggle over anyone 6’5 and is a below the rim player

question for those who saw both
Which was better – the 84 or 85 Hoyas? 84 obviously won all the marbles, but 85 seems like such a fluke loss in the final, that perhaps it was considered the better team? Plus it was Pat as senior vs Pat as junior. Anyway, curious as to the opinions of those with insight…
SirHoya - January 26, 2012
The old-timers on HT
Pretty consistently say ‘85 when this topic comes up over there. The ’84 team was obviously ultimately more successful, but from everything I’ve read, the ’85 team was better over the course of the season, one cocaine-game notwithstanding.
DHB Enterprises - January 26, 2012
Remember we played Villanova 4 times that season
We won the first three, but needed OT for all of them. On the fourth try, Rollie finally got it right. They were so patient. That’s about the only way to manage to shoot 77% from the floor against a bigger, faster, and stronger team.

While we are on the topic of "potential future big men"
Has anything new come out about Tyler Adams? Everytime I see him on the bench in the suit I have to remind myself “oh yeah, he might have a career ending medical problem.”
hoya ghost - January 26, 2012
Speculation but..
I think he’s fine but rather than trying to work him back and him losing a year of eligibility, they let him sit and petition the Ncaa for a Med Redshirt. One of my favorite Hoyas, watching Tyler’s reactions on the bench is almost better than watching the game, dude is animated!
4 more years of Tyler is looking more and more likely each passing day.
