It's the final day of the college basketball season, so it's time to throw out whatever's been on your mind. We'll be here all day and all night, so let's go!
Casual Trophy
Welcome to the greatest time of the year! Though the Hoyas don't play until tomorrow (THANK GOD), plenty of drama will unfold today, including the evil Syracuse Orange against America's Team, UNC-Asheville. So kick back, relax, tell your boss to get bent and after you're fired, enjoy this first day of the 2012 NCAA Tournament.

Wait, why isn't Fab Melo starting?

Last year at this time, we brought you an interview with former Hoya and your 42nd President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton. In order to top that piece, we figured that the only man who could possibly mean more to Georgetown is the current "Voice of the Hoyas" himself, Mr. Rich Chvotkin.

via hoyahoops.com
For those unfamiliar, Chvotkin has called more than 1000 Hoyas games since 1974 and has been behind the microphone for every memorable moment in Georgetown basketball history. His legendary catchphrases such as "vesper half", "muscle and tussle," and "hooker in the lane" have, naturally, inspired drinking games among current students and alumni alike, and of course his exuberant signature call of "Hoyas Win!" at the conclusion of each Hoyas victory brings a smile to every Hoya's face. As the Hoyas get set to do battle in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, Mr. Chvotkin was able to take a few moments to answer a few Casual questions via email.
More with Chvotkin after The Jump:
Now the fun really begins. The Georgetown Hoyas were selected as a 3 seed in the Midwest Region tonight in front of a mass of fans and 2012 #1 recruit Nerlens Noel. The Hoyas take on the Belmont Bruins on Friday March 16 at approximately 3:15pm in Columbus, Ohio. Personally, I was surprised that Georgetown ended up with a 3 seed considering how much weight is normally put on how a team finishes in their conference tournaments.
Say what you will about Georgetown's performances in the last few NCAA Tournaments, but John Thompson III deserves a ton of recognition for what he has done with this program. Starting in 2005-2006, Georgetown has made six of the last seven NCAA Tournaments, and have been seeded 7, 2, 2, 3, 6, and 3 in each respective draw. For a program that was an afterthought in the Big East from 1999-2004, this is a staggering achievement. To receive a 3 seed a year after losing Austin Freeman, Chris Wright, and Julian Vaughn is the best coaching job in the country besides Bill Self. There will be plenty of analysts on TV and the internet that will predict a Georgetown loss to Belmont, we've already seen Seth Davis and others do so. And frankly, it is an easy and lazy choice because of our recent tournament history. But let's step back for a second and applaud this year's team for a season that has outperformed all of our wildest expectations.
After The Jump, so many predictions that will be wrong.

The 2011 College Hoops season ends tonight.
This is it! Tonight is the 2011 NCAA Tournament National Championship, the final night of a dramatic and absurd (men's) college hoops season. The Big East's own UConn Huskies, unranked to start the season, the 9th place finisher in the Big East, and currently riding an insane 10 game winning streak in a span of 21 days take on the Butler Bulldogs, the Horizon League's darlings, appearing in an unfathomable second straight national championship game. Jim Calhoun, possibly coaching in his last game, against the young wizard Brad Stevens. Kemba Walker, the clear Big East Player of the Year to everyone except those who actually voted for the award, against the smart hustle of Butler's Shelvin Mack. UConn's Alex Oriakhi and Charles Okwandu against the white shadows Matt Howard and Andrew Smith. UConn's fearsome freshmen Jeremy Lamb, Shabazz Napier and Roscoe Smith against Butler's senior leadership of Howard, Shawn Vanzant and Zach Hahn.
With so much drama in the LBC I'm going to kick back tonight, whip out some nice chips and salsa, and hope for a good game that comes down to the final buzzer. My lean is towards the underdog Bulldogs though I can certainly respect those whose Big East loyalty weds them to UConn.
Who you got?
Happier times.
Well well well. Here we are, the 2011 NCAA Tournament Final Four, the last weekend of the college basketball season. Though my blue and gray Tumi suitcase lies empty in my closet and not on the floor of a casual hotel room in Houston, we are nonetheless presented with a couple of very intriguing games this evening.

Obama at McDonough. Yes, we promise that's him.
As you all know by now President Barack Obama was on campus today to discuss "Energy Security." But he addressed the real important issues of the day in his opening remarks. Here are a few highlights:
"I want to start with a difficult subject," Obama said as he looked toward JT3. "The Hoyas had a tough loss, Coach. "I love Coach Thompson. I love his dad and the great tradition that they've had," Obama continued. "And it turned out VCU was pretty good. I had Georgetown winning that game in my bracket, so we're all hurting here. That's what next year is for."
Obama is now talking about the boring Energy stuff, so while he wraps up feel free to check out some casual documentation from our friends at the Georgetown Voice here.
