Pregame Party: Georgetown at Seton Hall

Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard: a kinder, gentler Mick Cronin?

Georgetown's season-ending kick continues Tuesday night in New Jersey, where the the Hoyas will take on Seton Hall. But the Hoyas won't face the lowly Pirates of recent years. This season's Seton Hall squad has pulled a couple of home upsets and will arrive at the arena desperate for a marquee win to help its NCAA tournament profile. While Georgetown likely has ensured its entry into the dance, a win on Tuesday is essential to keep pace in the final push for post-season seeding. That victory won't come unless the Hoyas are sharp on offense and bring the same smothering defense that has typified recent performances. Without further ado, let's get you ready for tonight's showdown.

Pregame Party: Georgetown at Providence

Providence: Down, but not out.

Your Georgetown Hoyas come back from a six-day layoff refreshed for a critical five-game stretch that begins Saturday, when they head to Providence to take on the Friars. Big East road games are never easy, and Providence, despite an unimpressive 2-12 conference record, remains feisty, with plenty of scoring firepower. And with March drawing ever closer, the Hoyas scarcely can afford any misstep. Here's what you need to get yourself ready.

Pregame Party: St. John's at Georgetown

"Yes, I found him in the cafeteria, but he's your teammate now."

Your Georgetown Hoyas return home hoping for a bounce-back win on Sunday against St. John's, which looks for revenge for the Hoyas' 20-point win in Madison Square Garden. For Georgetown, this game is the first of five straight in which the Hoyas likely will be favored. A sweep of those games practically could assure Georgetown a top-four conference finish and a Big East Tournament double-bye, while a few losses could drop the Hoyas back into the pack, perhaps an echo of recent regular season-closing disappointments. While a late-season fade seems less likely this year than in years gone by (barring, knock on wood, an injury or illness), few Hoya fans would deny that the season still hangs very much in the balance. But Georgetown can win only one game on Sunday, so let's get you ready for it.

Pregame Party: Georgetown at Syracuse

Cerberus, Hydra, and Boeheim: the multi-headed beasts of mythology.

Greetings, fellow Hoyas. OverTheHilltop here, back with game preview. My prediction of Saturday's seven-point victory over South Florida was so preposterous prescient that my new-found overlords here at CasualHoya couldn't help but invite me back to prognosticate about the Hoyas' trip to everyone's favorite armpit of the Empire State, Syracuse. Some might think this game a bit of a rivalry, what with not-so-friendly wagers, decades worth of match-ups, and the return of a fruiticidal* Demon Jack. Others might wonder why they need rivals when they have doormats BC? That latter demented group are colored orange, and we despise them. But this might be our last trip up to the Canadian border for a while, so let's get you ready for tonight's showdown with the second-ranked Orange.

* Not a word, it turns out.

A Tradition Unlike Any Other: The Wager with Hoya Suxa on Georgetown-Syracuse 2012

It's that time of the year again. When all our hootin' and hollerin' about Georgetown and Syracuse is played out on the court and the Big East's most legendary rivalry outside of Rutgers - Seton Hall takes the national spotlight. It's also time for the fifth installment of our wager with Hoya Suxa.

For those of you new to this nonsense, our first bet was on the Syracuse-Georgetown game at the Verizon Center in 2010, after which we were forced to pen the horrific Ode to Gerry McNamara. The second wager was on the Big East Tournament matchup that season, and resulted in HoyaSuxa scripting, directing and starring in one of the greatest short films of our generation. (Casual note: IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED IT PLEASE DO SO NOW AND EVEN IF YOU HAVE, WATCH IT AGAIN). Last year, after Georgetown's epic victory at the Carrier Dome, HoyaSuxa was forced to publish five of his precious Daily Affirmations in support of Georgetown, which resulted in this and this and this and this and this. And in the last installment, we wrote an Ode to Jimmy B.

So for those keeping track, the score is tied at 2-2 going into what could be our last ever wager. That being said, this year we're adding a crucial element to the wager: public humiliation.

Inside Edition: Former Player Looks Back to the Beginning of the Georgetown-Syracuse Rivalry

Former John Thompson Jr. player "Bashful" takes a look back to the beginning of the Georgetown-Syracuse Rivalry:

Like any red-blooded Hoya, the thought of that team dressed in Orange incites me now. But as a veteran of the Hoya Program from the 1970s, I have to say it wasn't really a rivalry back then, but had great potential. Now, with the Big East membership of Syracuse fast approaching an end it might be worthwhile to reflect on that rivalry from when it began-in the 1970s.

A look back after The Jump:
